Now being reported this isn't happening…at least yet…

Mack Brown to 247: "I'm in FL recruiting. If I had decided to step down I sure wouldn't be killing myself down here." Said not stepping down

lulz, dis gon be good

There's a Miami tie as well, apparently he is in FL to recruit Dalvin Cook.

Don't kid yourself. He is sittin on the bench in Delray outside Century Village, waitin' on the Trolley bus to bring him to the Walgreens to pick up his prescription of Extra strength preparation H. He's recruitin' some honeys for his bridge team's cheer squad.

If true, I doubt AG would be their top choice, but if he is, he's gone. And it's delusional to think otherwise.

Texas is probably the best and most sought-after job in all of CF (certainly top 3, at a minimum). They can double his salary, triple the salary of his staff, quadruple his recruiting budget (if not more), and literally have unilimited resources in terms of facilities (which are already about as good as they get). Plus they have as much (if not more) access to top recruiting talent as anyone in the country.

To step down per multiple twitter reports. Any chance they call Al?

Yeah, because EVERYONE wants that fantastic defense we run. Al is getting now offer without cutting ties to Mark. That is the one good thing about this year. The "NO MARK" clause will be in any offer he gets. I will be surprised to see his name pop up anywhere this year.

Rumors picking up steam now that ESPN is doing their little OTL report. He leaves and the Bama dynasty falls with Saban ditching for more money and not having to live in Alabama.

In some measure of seriousness, if not Saban, then who does UT go after? Miles? Kelley? Scrape the NFL ranks? Just like Foley at UF, they are burdened by their own egos and have to make a splash.

Why does everyone assume Saban would go to Texas. He already said he's getting too old to rebuild a program. At this point Alabama can pay him just as much as Texas with how much money they've generated the last few years, their team is already built and he's won 3 titles

I'd imagine Miles, Shaw, D'Antonio, Franklin, and Briles will be contacted.

From the NFL: Chip Kelly, Jeff Fisher, Gruden

Can't imagine them hiring a coordinator from either level, and I don't see Gruden as actually interested.

Sumlin......I hope Saban leaves and go there. I'm sincerely tired of Bama and they wont fall off with him there. Briles is a good bet as well. Golden will get credit for sticking through the **** storm and being great at recruiting but there are serious kinks in his gamedag coaching particularly allowing No D to run our D into the ground. Forget talent, no top school wants to run the passive defense. None. They rather lose being aggressive.

Mack is determined to run that program into the ground. too bad for Whorn fans.

Pretty sure Chip Kelly has a show cause penalty at least for another year, making him extremely unlikely.

Because it's not exactly a rebuild. Mack Brown's been recruiting elite talent for Texas, just not getting the results in the last 4 years. Plus, they have the most money to offer and the financial structure is in place. Mack Brown built that program, Nick Saban would just be able to take them to the next level.

Just told by source Nick Saban in contract negotiations w #Alabama for extension in $7M/year range.

This. They have their own god damned TV network and a roster far more talented than the one he took over at Alabama. Saban is a carpetbagger and Texas is the only team that can outbid 'Bama.

LULZ....probably an Aggie Alum

Briles isn't going anywhere. Baylor is a better job than Texas, private school and will have a brand spanking new football stadium in 2014. Baylor and A&M will overtake TexA$$ as the school to chose for recruits.

Nobody, including Briles, thinks Baylor is a better job than Texas. As a poster said earlier UT is, at a minimum, one of the 3 or so best jobs in the country.

I think they will swing for Saban, Shaw, and Miles. If none of those bite, I see them looking at Mike Gundy.

His last act as Texas head coach? A futile in-home to recruit a kid from the hood in miami who has no interest in Texas and who's grandma is on the take.

El pobre.
