Truly one of the most shocking trades in sports history.

They couldve gotten any player in the league minus Wemby, Shai, and Jokic. The Spurs wouldve given them every pick they own up until 2030 and im sure alot of other teams wouldve as well.

They didnt even ask around. Absolutely astonishing.
 
This trade is legitimately so bad from the Dallas side that it feels like collusion. Whether that’s from the league wanting to save ratings by getting a young superstar to LA, or Nico Harrison having way too close of a relationship with the Lakers FO. This is so bad. Trading a 25 year old, top 3 player in the league who carried you to the NBA Finals less than a year ago is bad enough. Citing concerns with his conditioning and taking on a 31 year old walking injury is idiotic. Not taking offers from other teams and getting a worse return than Brooklyn got for Mikal Bridges is truly malpractice.

I read the Shams tweet like 10 times in disbelief last night, I was so sure it was a fake account.

And in fact, the controlling ownership now is with the Adelson family who gave Trump $100 million.

So if someone wants to make a political statement about the intelligence involved in the trade, I am here for it.

Not ****. Yes, Luka needs to get in better shape. But it’s not a Zion situation where he misses a ton of games every year, he still plays 65+ every season and big minutes, it’s more that anytime you watch him he seems to be less than 100% but still puts up 30/10/7, and is an absolute killer in the playoffs. Meanwhile Davis has had two healthy seasons in the last like 7 years (one of which was the bubble year where the season had a built in 4 month offseason) and is on the wrong side of 30. And as we all know, big guys with a long injury history historically age great.

It’s a gift for the Lakers and it makes no sense at all. If you don’t want to pay a top 3 player in the world who hasn’t even hit his prime years and took you to the finals last year, you shouldn’t be allowed to own a franchise.

I didn't even realize how injury prone Luka is.

Since his second year in the league, he's missed 1 out of every 4.5 regular season games.

He’s missed more than half of this year which skews the numbers a bit. In the previous 5 seasons he played 83% of Dallas’s games, essentially a 68 g/year rate (2 shortened Covid years). That’s not super out of line with other stars other than the Jokic/Tatums of the world that play every night.

For reference, Davis over the same time period played in 69% of his team’s games, a 56 g/year rate.
 
Dumbest trade ever. NBA needs to veto this just like the CP3 trade to the lakers. LAs future was looking bleak and here come Dallas saving them and ******* up their own future. Even if you think Luka is lazy and not worth $300+ million you don’t trade him for a 32 year old injury prone big.
