He’s not a good safety, so why would we be better with him? We’ve got much better quality in Kitchens and the Williams guys. Maybe he can play on kickoffs or something I guess.

He actually is a good safety who was probably playing hurt and/or just didn't have a good year. Either way, there's reason to believe he'd be better next season. But that's not even the point. The point is that if he's not there we just have an empty hole on the bench at best. He's not taking up a spot that we'll be able to fill with anyone else. There's literally no chance we'll go into the season with 85 guys, so what's the harm in having one you don't think is very good?

It has to do with his status in the US. Because he isn’t a citizen he has hard restrictions and can’t profit from an NIL.
