Loss is on 2 people...

When you start blaming a loss on a freshman LB who didn't play, you've got to stop, take a step back, and realize that it's way more than that.

redshirt freshman. who needs to be there because perryman hasn't been at 100% and has made the big stops when they counted. the middle of the field was open enough that a running back or receiver could've stopped to take a leak and still made it into the secondary. defense sorely missed him. and it's his fault for not being there.

Plenty of HS QBs, right now, would make D'Onofrio look bad.

this is true. it is a compounding effect since the offense is trying to overcompensate for the pathetic defense.

I'm all for giving the coaches their due time to get their guys, but I have ZERO faith that D'No will ever be worth a ****

I'm still amazed people blame the guy who hung up 40 points for us.

1. Ohnofrio

2. Jedd Fisch's retarded alter ego

Fixed.

That D is inexcusable and those non-drives in the fourth quarter were killer.

Agreed. It's on both the offense and defense to an extent. More the defense than the offense, but the fact of the matter is, we had 2 different chances to salt that game away with a couple of first downs on a team(as mentioned earlier, that we had shredded all game), and we promptly go 3 and out on both drives. I told my wife after Duke returned the free kick out to midfield(UVA deserved to lose that game for continuing to kick to him, BTW) that if we didn't get a first down, we would lose.

I just feel like attacking the OC who scored 40 points as the guy who lost us the game, would be like chastising a defensive coordinator for allowing a last-second field goal, and losing 6-3.

If the rest of the team can't win with us throwing 40 on the board, we suck turds.

No doubt, we lost because our defense sucks. 40 points should ALWAYS be enough for us to win a ball game. But, we did have a chance to put the game away on offense(against a poor defense) and we couldn't get one first down on 6 plays. Our defense is what it is at this point, and that is really, really bad. IMO, you have to realize that and do whatever you can to not put the outcome of the game back into their hands. I'm not really blaming the offense for the loss, I just think we should have attempted to do a little more on the last couple of drives to get first downs in order to keep our horrific defense off of the field in the final couple of minutes.

Yep. So simple. Not too long ago, if we scored 40 we won by 37.

and i'll bet K. Rodgers, S. Green, J Gaines, and A. Highsmith etc... would have started on those defenses

And we'd be ****ed that the backups gave up a FG

Some of y'all are stuck on stupid. Yeah lets not discipline anyone cause that's how jimmy did it. Times change. If jimmy tried it today he would have the same mess urban Meyer had in Florida. And no one knows the full extent as to what jimmy sound let go of and what he didn't.

the defense missing its 3 best players is to blame for the loss. If bush ej and Perryman play that game easily becomes a blowout.

lastly when you have highsmith, Rodgers, gaines, Fentress on defense and are missing your top 3 players you get a train run up on you like we did.

idk if that game becomes a blowout but i think we somehow can find a way to get a stop on the last drive.

we cant hold this team to that standard. the times r gone where we dominate before we even step foot on the field. the intimidation is gone we need to move on from the past a bc well never be that right away. we first have to win the ACC Coastal. take baby steps this is a complete rebuild. think of it like building a new stadium completely from the ground up and not a renovation (Met Life vs Soldier Field): you first have to lay out a design (we did that to an extent), lay a foundation (its building), and then build up from that (TBD)

1) Eddie Johnson - no explanation necessary

2) Al Golden - Assuming he forced Fisch's hand and made him call 3 straight running plays on our last possession. I hate playing not to lose. You lose that way. If your going to go out, go the F out swinging.

Not going blame Coach D. We know he sucks and he was was missing his best 3 playmakers on D. We had a chance to close it on offense and we went Chuck Knox conservative. I hate that conservative ****

This is why we lost. Can't have said it any better. We got one first down on our last drive and then decided to run 3 straight times. When you run the ball three straight times it cuts the challenges the other team faces in half. Meaning, instead of actually having to try and stop our offense and then score a TD, we conceded our offense and just made them overcome one challenge, scoring a td on our defense(not sure how much of a challenge that is though).

I think the most concerning thing about this loss is that Al Golden decided to trust his defense in a game where we gave up 35, have one of the worst defenses in the ACC, and were missing three starters. Golden needs to have a better feel of the game and make the most of his opportunities. If he does not change this, we will lose 2 games a year no matter what talent we have.
