I actually thought Kamalu could've been a decent player in an up-field scheme.
Def, he was an athlete. That would've let him use the best thing he had going for him

"Muhammad has had an up-and-down career thus far, but expectations for him are still high this season under Coach Kuligowski. He is currently caught up in a potential compliance issue, but is expected to stay on the team. He had a team-high five sacks last season and was forced to miss his sophomore year with suspension. It goes without saying that he needs to be more productive this season to raise his draft stock."
This was pretty much dead on. And that last statement is a monumental understatement. It applies to Coley as well.
Is it just me, or is AQM the most recent Allen Bailey strain? "Everyone knows he's a stud, freakin' look at him! Just wait!!", but production doesn't match up (at all) with perceived potential. Yes, I know, he has another year. But show something over a sustained period.
While I get your point, Allen Bailey signed a 25M contract a few years ago...so I think hes won at life. Funny part is that AB prob would have been a star in that 3-4 POS scheme.... He is a 3-4 DE now for the Chiefs.
Allen Bailey is the rare example of a Miami defensive end that would have been better suited in a 3-4 role. He's not the undersized, quick, upfield guy we get to see a lot here. He's a strength guy. Quick for a 280+ pounder but not really a speed rush type. He might have been better served playing tackle in Randy Shannon's defense. He's excelled in the NFL.
Yup, should've been a 3-tech here

But he did play mostly DT here. He played everywhere on the line but he was mostly DT. And he was pretty productive here considering he only played like 2 years.
As promised, here is who we missed on or didn't land that I remember us recruiting. the misses were big at the time and there were some pretty bad losses or straight missed. Many didn't pan out but the ones that did were pretty big
1. Matt Thomas, 5* OLB, Signed with FSU and had been a huge bust. Demoralizing at the time
2. Mackensie Alexander, 4* CB, Signed with Clemson, 2nd round pick by Minnesota. Big miss.
3. Tim Williams, 4* DE, Signed Alabama, breakout season in '15 with 10.5 sacks and will be big time pass rusher this year
4. Will Likely, 4* CB, signed with Maryland, killer ST player and 1st team All Big 10 corner
5. Jordan Sherit, 4* DE, signed with UF, hasn't done much
6. Jayron Kearse, 4* Ath, signed with Clemson, 7th round pick for Minnesota
7. Keith Bryant, 4* DT, signed with FSU and was a king troll. Has done jack **** for the Noles
8. Skai Moore, 4* LB, signed with USCe, flat out miss by Golden. Solid career for Gamecocks but will miss '16 with injury
9. Rashard Robinson 4* CB, signed with LSU, kicked off team but drafted 4th round by SF
10. Jaynard Bostwick, 4* DT, signed with UF, transferred
11. Michael Deeb, 3* LB, signed with ND, career over due to injury
12. Maquidious Bain, 3* DT, signed LSU, transfers to UAB
13. Sojourn Shelton, 3* CB, signed with Wisconsin, average starter there
I wouldn't call Matthew Thomas a miss, that kid was dying to go to usc. Mom wanted him to stay home, fsu was a compromise. Ditto keef, he was never coming to UM. That said, we sure have missed out on a ton of local talent.
If the kid is local, we try to sign them and we fail...that is a miss. No matter what caveats you want to attach.

Keyword is mostly. If I remember correctly they moved him around similarly to the way Jonathan Bullard of UF was moved around.
