Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

Right. He knew Arroyo and McCormick were both likely going to be gone and he would be the favorite to be #1 on the depth chart. Given that, transferring makes no sense.
Especially transferring cause you're upset you were a backup. Then you transfer last year. That theory makes no sense.

Williams left before Carson Beck jumped the portal and joined the Canes., no? I wonder if he regrets leaving.

Oh well.
That really doesn't make any sense either. He was perfectly fine ostensibly catching passes from Poff and Emory when it seemed those were our QB choices. It seems pretty clear to me he left for non-football reasons.

He can’t bend vs speed rushers and is too slow to get to the 2nd level on screen passes to his own side of the field. Screen game was way better with Rivers at tackle because he could get to the guy in time. He’s got a lot to improve on.

Personally he’s playing out of position and is a RT only because of his size.
I think we can all agree Rivers was the better player. He also had the benefit of a TON of experience that Bell doesn’t have and obviously doesn’t have the physical gifts that Bell does.

I get JuCo is maybe a half step up from high school, but he was playing and holding his own midway through his first season of big boy football.

Maybe he doesn’t improve but if he takes it seriously, he’s going to get drafted. And his size with Mirabal’s track record is exciting.

What if I told you those "NFL Draft guys on Twitter" watched the same 6 games (and fewer practices) as many people "on here"?

And what does "really really good" mean anyway? Day 1 draft pick? Day 2? All-American? First team All-Conference? What exactly is their "position" on Bell as a player?
I am referencing a Matt Miller tweet and he’s talking to scouts and coaches, etc…so I’ll trust that.

But congrats on attending all that practice.

I think “really really good” probably means the arrow is point up in a meaningful way. And I think closing the book on his upside because of six games (and of course the practices) is a mistake.

Perhaps, and probably. But would you have hitched your wagon to Emory?

I also think from other posts on this board Williams wanted to be more of a pass-catching tight end than an in-line blocker.

Not that it matters anymore.

This was a loss. IDC what “issues” there were. He didn’t seem to have trouble in Texas.

he was better than most of our dl when he transferred out.

Coaches messed up that eval or development because it was clear when healthy he can play and took to coaching easily.

If i could remember im guessing it was having the new dl coaches come in and a lil rift there.

Another example why we should roll with Blount, Scott, Mcconothy, Lowe, Pickett and Lightfoot. We have a good talent on this team, so lets get them meaningful reps and let them develop

DEs - I agree with you. But DT I think we should add one more. Unless Bain playing DT is for sure.
