Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

21 pass attempts in 3 years? Maybe if he's willing to come as a backup but we need someone a bit more established.

He lost a close QB battle to a kid who ended will more than likely end up a 1st Team All ACC kid in Beck.

Saw him a few times this Spring, on TV for the Spring game, and know someone who’s coached him that way he’s the real deal.

Doubt he would be the only QB taken, so while he COULD, it's not as much of a guarantee.

I said South Carolina or NC ST. I was close, Kentucky is the rumor.

Thats the level of school he will pick.

I’d rather gamble on him being the best of the bunch since he’s still got room to grow and develop.

There’s a downside to getting old dogs in the transfer portal too. Take a look at what Leary did at Kentucky this year.

Had a ton of bad habits that Coen had to breakdown and rebuild as the season progressed.

Just want to point out, some of the best QB transfers have been unproven guys (Joe Burrow). Especially at Georgia (Fields). Shoot even Eason was a drafted QB at Washington.

Uga hates 5 star qbs (no clue why they keep going there).
Hendon Hooker was mediocre at best at Virginia Tech...**** near won a Heisman.

Bo Nix was so inconsistent he had a meme named after him....probably going to win a Heisman.

Said it before...the portal has taught me that in college football, the system is a **** of a lot more important than we give it credit for. There are multiple "Tier A" guys that we'd all kill to have that will underwhelm next season, and somewhere in there a few "Tier C" guys that will put up big numbers and surprise us all (Max Johnson, Tyler Shough type of guys that we'd all be ****ed if we ended up with).

He could start immediately here.
Sheet. I could start immediately here.

You could very well be right about Brock. But he only has 21 live passing attempts in his entire college career. Getting him as QB1 would be based off a potential and projections. Unfortunately Mario and co have painted us into a corner where we have very little room for error or we'll really be ***ed with ever getting quality QB's here. We have to go with someone more battle tested where we have tape of their strengths and weaknesses when the bullets are flying.

I 100% agree with you. Which is why out of all things, I am most critical about our scheme.

I'm with you. Unless with lose someone like X, we are pretty loaded and have Trader/Carr/Chance coming in and Ray Ray set to take over for Brashard assuming he leaves.
It would be a waste of $$$ to go after a big WR when we have the guys we have coming in, and the guys we have coming back. Better spent on landing a TOP QB, DLs, and DBs.

I seriously doubt WR is a priority, but we'd really a proven, productive guy there.
