Lockhart and Ricardo Williams both granted their release

There was a thread a while back where I (and others) noted that Williams was on his way out and wasn't going to contribute here.

Plenty of folks got all hot on under the collar and yapped about how it was too early to say that, etc. You know, the usual yammerings of type first, think second porsters.

Dont really understand why a kid like Lockhart bolts so quickly

Saw the depth chart.
Dorsett, Scott, Lewis, Waters, Carter, Jones, with Griffin, Coley and Elder coming, not counting next year's newbies.
Coming off the ACL he's will be behind at least 7 guys counting Hurns this year and maybe 10 guys with the freshmen.
Unless we run out 5 receivers ever down this year he'd be lucky to see 10 targets all year long.
Like every player on the team he had his sit down with Golden and received the honest assessment of his present and future standing.

Forgot to add that this is all MY OPINION ONLY.

He was getting PT as a true freshmen. Golden have praised his talent several times. If he came back healthy no reason he couldnt jump those guys

Sucks that the transfer rumors were true about Lockhart.

Definitely not a talent issue as the coaches praised him multiple times. When he started to put it all together learning the offense he gets hurt. It's not like its easy to come in as a freshman and pick everything up. It took guys like Hankerson and Streeter years to do it. Too bad Lockhart wasn't patient enough.

I think he was more of a basketball guy in HS, who started playing football late, and football ended up being a better meal ticket for him. So I kind of wonder how much he was really into playing football in the first place

Just more schollys to give out for the next 2 years that are loaded in S Florida. The stars have alligned from that standpoint, hopefully we take advantage.

Kids that transfer rarely amount to much. Shawnbrey McNeal and Arthur Brown had the most success IIRC. Best of luck to them though.

Good luck to them both. Hopefully Griffin and Coley are good to go for the fall.

I hope so too, but we're good either way. Hence why Lockhart decided to take his chances elsewhere.

If Coley is as good as I think he is though, Morris better be sitting in New York at the end of the year at least.

Best of luck to both these young men. We are sick deep at WR and getting deeper. To bad this isn't like the NFL. We could trade Lockhart to UF or FSU for a DT-- ability to learn stuff is never a problem in either of those glorified junior colleges.

Taking too long for Williams to grow into his body. Kid was a stick coming in. Lockhart transferring is somewhat surprising given the hoops we went through to flip him. Guess he's doubting his own abilities to compete...

We should have known Rico Williams was not going to contribute when he got some burn in the UNC game and was nonexistant. It was as if Dno and Al were begging him to show ANYTHING when they randomly threw him out there. He just wasnt talented enough. Weight had nothing to do with it. He could have gotten to 265 and still wouldnt have made a difference. Randy got this one right. Lol.

Now Lockhart is someone I hope we dont regret in the end. Yes we have depth now but we are two injuries away from Carter, Coley, or Jones being our 4th WR. (Not sold on Lewis being 100% yet. I dont wanna see him do it against FAU. I want to see him do it on Sept 7th for me to know he is 100% healed that fast.) I know it sounds like a stretch but **** it happened last year!... Hurns got hurt; Lewis got hurt; Scott got suspended; Dorsett couldnt catch a cold. BINGO! Here comes Herb out of nowhere to save the day. And most of us thought he would be the one to redshirt. I hope this works out like we all think it will.

I like that the kids that are scared of competition are leaving. Only makes the team even better

Didn't he sit out football his Junior year to concentrate on basketball? I have no idea, but it just seemed from what I read about him he preferred basketball

Lockhart came to my house this past semester for a party I had and as we were both pretty buzzed i was telling him how this was going to be his year and he was gonna breakout.. of course he was totally into that but I could kind of tell something was off. It makes sense now knowing he is transferring because he kind of had the look like he had given up on his chances here.

Remeber this highlight that has us creamin'.

Would have loved to have him switch to safety with all the Wr depth we'd have if Griffin and Coley are in. Who knows maybe the staff asked him to switch positions so he dipped

I'm pretty sure it'll work out the way I think it will.
