Like to get the thoughts on Herb Waters as a recruit

I was a fan and I know bomb was too based on a camp we saw him live at. Didn't have that explosiveness or speed, but showed great hands and what really got my attention was the attitude. You could just tell he had that "it" factor.

Yes sir, agree. Just an all around player. Great work ethic, leadership, and heart. Solid, but not exceptional athlete. Can get long and extend though.

Another kid we really liked while were at it was a kid named Tion Green. Right Tano? Limited athletically, but a gamer. Ended up at Cincy. Excited to follow his career as I'm rooting for him.

Btw it was at one of these camps that we came to the conclusion that Burgess would never end up at miami. He reportedly had an offer at the time. Not sure what he will do in his career, I know he got some run already at Louisville, but there is such a difference between seeing a kid live over YouTube. Even if its in a limited camp setting. It's why I usually only listen to and give credence to live reports. Hope he pans out. Great kid. Really wanted to come here.

^Dorsett. And if Malcom Lewis can come back at 100% (both physically, and more critically psychologically) he will be ******* insane. Dude was getting ready to light it up as a true freshmen multiple times early in the season, while Herb Waters began to show some very promising flashes late.

From what we've seen at least, part of me felt like Scott had the most raw talent of the group. I think Dorsett emerges as the leader and #1, but I like what Scott had to offer.

It might not be proven, but we had a lot of young talent show flashes of what they could become. A lot of talented kids being slept on at wide out.

I don't think we are going to have a "#1" receiver next season. I think the ball is going to be spread around a lot. Dorsett, Hurns, Lewis (if healthy), Waters, Walford and Sandland should all get the ball a good amount. People won't look at our receiving corps and say "____ is a beast." they are going to say "all them mother ****ers are nasty, including the big *** white kid."

I agree with that. I also think ideally, Fisch would prefer his offense to end up that way. Defend the entire field and everyone is a threat because we spread the ball around. BUT the way some people are talking on here you'd think we were returning 7 Khalil Joneses.

I was a huge fan of his and thought he was severely underrated. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do with another year of development. He played QB his junior year at Homestead so he is still learning at receiver.

I didn't think anyone questioned the take as several did with Carter and Jones. Waters wasn't considered as good as Cooper, and the context was that we had let Sammy get away and were looking for that level caliber of a receiver. We also wanted a #1 guy to replace Streeter right away, and Waters was viewed as someone who could develop into a solid #2 by his Redshirt Sophomore year.

But everyone could see he had talent. I think it's fair to say he's well ahead of expectations, but the jury is out on whether he makes it to a #1.

I liked what I saw out of Waters in limited action last season.

I thought Waters showed pretty good hands (one drop that I can remember vs Duke) and pretty good speed.

Did Waters really play enough to get a good sense of what he can do? IMO no he did not.

I'm excited to see our kids grow up and become better players just like the rest of you.

At this point all it is, is hope on my part. I have seen this movie before. We have had kids come in and contribute/play well early in their careers only to go into a shell and begin to suck. (Ryan Moore, Sam Shields, Lance Leggett).

Waters (everyone on the team for that matter) need to get into the weight room, track, and playbook hard.

A great work ethic is a must, stay out of trouble/coaches doghouse as well as a lot of luck to avoid the injury bug.

Hope he ends up good enough to ball out in college and be drafted day 1 or 2 when his time is up.

Tion Green, yessir. Bulked up to play runningback over there and I think he's going to compete for a starting position next season.
I was unimpressed with Burgess. He looked like he weight 180 at 6'. Fluid in coverage for a linebacker though (he better be for being that small). That being said, he may be a different linebacker when the pads come on....

I was talking about the 2014 season, not this upcoming season if that's what you are thinking. Phillip is more of the speedy slot receiver that gives defenses **** while Herb can turn into a #1 in my opinion. Not faulting Dorsett though he's good, just needs to stop dropping balls.

He is an extremely talented kid, but I doubt he steps foot on campus and becomes our #1 right away. We will have plenty of options at this position after another year of our guys developing...not worried.

This, Waters was a kid that fought and clawed for the ship, loved his work ethic.

Not sure about that. Kid has some serious potential and gives us some size on the outside that we don't have. Well, we do if R. Scott can stay out of the dog house, but coley is still better IMO.
