2024 Lifewallet Sports 5 Must Get Recruits for 2024

Capers is a great player that we need to land but just isn’t in my top 5. Maybe not even top 10.
He’s absolutely in the top10 must gets. Top5 arguably… He’s a local product from our head coaches Alma Mater so that’s that. I’d like to think we land him and Stephenson both on the defensive side…

But our problems are mostly at the skill slots on offense. Jeremiah Smith (generational talent) and JoJo are both MUST GET players.

Capers aint in my top 15.

You pay for elite DL and OL. F everything else. a top 5 list needs 3 from the trenches.

Ellias Robinson and Capers automatically off my list.
I’d scratch Robinson off the list he’s either Georgia or Colorado bound… There’s plenty of other CB prospects we can pursue and not cave in on NIL for.

We need to throw all our NIL at Jeremiah Smith he’s as good a WR we’ve had in South Florida in over 20 years. He’s drawing Julio Jones comparisons already… He’s probably the best prospect since Andre Johnson…

He is a must get because he is local and from Columbus plus he is very talented but my reasoning here that he MAYBE not top 10 is because #1 have other needs way above him and #2 he looks a bit of a tweener to me right now.

Smith, Trader, and an ELITE QB are 3 of the top 5 most important targets, IMO. Gotta stack premier talent at the most premium positions offensively after securing two blue-chip OT’s in ‘23.

The other two spots I’d reserve for talent in the trenches, especially DT.

Thoughts on this list from @Udynasty ? Is "Air" too high? Should JoJo be in the top 5?
  1. Jeremiah Smith
  2. Prentiss “Air” Noland
  3. David Stone
  4. Ellis Robinson IV
  5. TJ Capers

How likely is it that we can secure any of them given that we’re starting over with coordinators on both sides and a host of new position coaches? I fear 2024 might be a lost year given the late start.

After that we need an elite CB, DT and safety. We have glaring holes that need to be addressed and pronto.

Raiola? Isn’t he committed to OSU and/or are we recruiting him?
He decomm’d from Oh ST already & is looking around at multiple programs.

But my list wasn’t specific to whether or not Miami is recruiting them, it’s just my top 5 “Must-Gets” if a Must-Get is defined as a can’t miss type player that will be productive.

If we get a top HS QB, he's starting immediately imo. Otherwise we're wasting $1m+

I agree with this. Top 5 QBs won't sit any more. Maybe redshirt 1 year behind a Heisman type. Otherwise it's wasted money as they'll transfer out. I'd rather spend a fraction of the money on a 4 star and maybe even a second top 3 star QB, and if none pan out, go portalling.

WRs, DBs, Big Uglies, RBs. That's where I'd put most of my money. ... Of course, Ruiz should use his money however he wants. I'm just thankful we have him and a few other big NIL investors who are aligned with Miami.

Do you think we’re better off getting the WR coach he had at Houston or Hankerson?

I think there’s a teaching the system side, teaching the position side along with development, and, a recruiting side. How do you see it?

@lindend Geo didn't write that column. I did , I work for lifewallet sports.

Jojo was the hardest dude to keep off that list and if Jeremiah sticks with OSU then he would make the list, I went back and forth on him so I wouldn't even argue if someone were to say that he is top 5.

The reasoning for Noland is because I feel we need to land a blue chip QB. For the optics of the class and the future at the QB position, especially when our roster is not where it needs to be talent-wise and depth wise, Noland OR ( a Julian Sayin perhaps??) should be imo
at the top of the list as a talented QB can solve a lot of issues and cover for lack of depth/ talent as we are rebuilding.

Finally right up there with Jojo I have Justin Scott as an honorable mention. What Cristobal did with the OL last year he wants to accomplish with the DT room this year and rightly so. Those elite DT types will be a bloody war to the end but I would say outside of WR there is no one position right now that Mario wants to fix than the interior DL.

Leaving JoJo off is absolutely ridiculous.

But perfect for clicks. Congrats on the gig, I see you're already ahead of the curve. : )

Get the best person available that can do the job in full.

Hiring a guy that only has one aspect of the job is selling yourself short & not putting the players in the best position to succeed. There are coaches who can do all 3, find’em & hire’em, it’s that simple.

There’s a reason why TAMU had arguably one of the top 5 most talented rosters in the Nation last year & still went 5-7.
