Lets talk about Antonio Crawford

Am I the only one who thinks Gunter's best position long term could be safety?

He's a good player, I think he can play either position in college....but I've always thought this.

he has the size and maturity to play safety...I expect he will have a say this fall....

I've been driving Crawford's bandwagon from the beginning. Love his athleticism and his competitiveness. He had a war with Malc Lewis in the game and Malcs TD was just ridiculous against outstanding coverage.

I actually expected Crawford to be on the field before Tracy but regardless, he is going to be a STUD. Wouldn't mind seeing him on return duties either.

Think he could do both as well but for now he might be our best CB. Would be tough to switch him depending how these young guys catch up.

cuz he almost commited to GT before he was told not to visit UM - late visit..Seriously, this kid is a balla. True football player. I saw him play against malcolm and i said to myself, WTF is this kid only a 3 star... Anyhow, glad to have him on the team. He will start this year for sure. Lock him in fellas. He gets it!!

He committed to GT. He was commited for a number of months and Miami flipped him late in the cycle.
I had done a photoshop pic of him (as a GT commit) and McCord when their high school seasons ended.

More proof that these ranking systems are flawed. It's not like this kid was flying completely under the radar, the beat miramar in the title game for Christ sake

Need a lot of the young pups to mature and grow or we're gonna have to win by shootout, which is what happened a lot last year.. We improve on D, we win more games, period.

Coach recently confirmed we'll do a lot of no huddle like Fisch did, so either he believes we have to outscore opponents on offense to win or he has confidence in the D to deal with the TOP issues. Hmmm... can't wait to find out.

Go Canes!

Idk but I think he beasts out this year. Fastest and most athletic cb on the team. And once he gets jos hands on a pic that Rb side of him will do wonders, big things in this kids future!

Artie Burns and Elder will have sonething to say about who is the fastest cb on the team.

Also i think Gunter is more athletic... hits like a safety with good speed. Did a very good job defending Rodney Smith and Kelvin Benjamin last year vs FSU.

Edit: Crawford imo is very talented but he seems to get "lost" on the field too often... wat i mean is he doesnt make plays and is rarely aroubd the ball.

I think Howard is better b/c of that fact... howard is a lesser athlete then Crawford but Tracy makes more plays.

Speed is a factor but over rated...Mcgee could fly..he was Okay at best

Mcgee was very very good last year IMO. I think you could make the case that he was our best defensive player last year. No stats behind it, drunk and lazy, but just by the eyeball test either him or Eddie Johnson was clearly our best on D last year.

I like Crawford. I like Howard and Burns too. Not sure about Gunter, look forward to seeing Hope and Dortch.

I dont understand why ppl dont like Gunter.... he is the most physically gifted corner on the team.., last year was his first year playing and he defended opposing teams best receivers.... i could make the case that he was beaten only about the same amount of times McGee was.

I dont see any other cb on our roster taking his spot.

I cant ******* wait for football to start!!!!

crawford is a baller. there is real competition now at CB. i love it.

Gunter was our most consistent CB last season and has the size none of the other corners have (besides Burns). Very much doubt he sees any time at safety.

Gunter won me over in that FSU game. That kid played his ******* heart out and he was laying the ******* wood out there. There was no doubt in my mind as the season went along he was the clear #2 corner on the team behind McGee.

Crawford is another one those under the radar players that will help this team on the road to an championship great cornerback on the rise

I'm sorry... I haven't been impressed with Gunter... He did okay against FSU... He made a few plays on the ball but he was suspect as well and he was fortunate to benefit from a few calls... I recall seeing Smith put a move on him and he tripped over himself... firtunately the refs called a offensive pi (no contact he just fell)...I'm not saying he's horrible but he isn't our best corner... I like the potential of Crawford and hopefully Howard improves... Howard should not have saw the field last year... He wasn't physically ready...

Gunter had a solid game against VT as well.,.., look u are comparing a guy in Gunter that went up against every teams most experienced receivers to a guy in Crawford who rarely saw the field.

As talented as Crawford is he isnt better then Howard imo b/c like i said he doesnt make plays.... u say Howard wsnt ready but none of our dbs except McGee were.

Late in the season Howard was making more and more physical plays..... i have yet to see Crawford make a tackle.

I think Gunter will have improved a lot since last year as well. You're talking about potential and improvement which we are all hoping for, but the truth of the matter is Gunter is the only CB on our roster with true experience. Howard got a little and Crawford got much less. I bet Gunter will still be our top CB. Which IMO, is a big deal because of the fact that Howard and Crawford are right there.

there is alot of talent in the secondary and i think it will suprise the experts when they jump on the scene because they all seem to be saying that is one of our weakest position groups, idc if they are young they can be really good this year.

You are right... None of our db's were ready... I meant from at least a physical standpoint... I like Howard... He's a smart player but I felt his lack of speed and strength hurt him at times... I felt if anything Crawford had the speed to compete... As for Gunter I just don't see it as of yet... He was suspect against FSU despite a couple of plays he made... The guy was tripping over himself and was being handled from their wideouts... He benefitted from a couple of questionable pi calls... As for VT I had class and was unable to watch the game... By the time I saw the game, I saw an overrated qb for VT make simple mistakes... My issue is where was he against UVA and Duke? Both teams wideouts core had a field day... They guy leaves a lot to be desired... I wouldn't be surprised to see Crawford or Howard overtake him once the season starts...
