Let's rank our backs....

Still not seeing why people prefer Fletcher over Martinez. That is not me ****ting on Fletcher he is very good. I just see the same order but flip Martinez and Fletcher.
Martinez is starting to get more comfortable each week. Aside from his yards after contact and him punishing defenders, I've noticed his feet are looking quicker lately.

He's due for one of those games where he absolutely dominates... 20 carries for 160 will happen before the season is over.

Last 3 games he's averaged 6, 10, and 7.4 ypc. To me he's James Conner 2.0

I would like to see 20 for 160 but I don’t think he will get there. We don’t run it like that.

We split carries between our backs and Fletch and Martinez are usually not seen after 2nd or 3rd quarter when Allen comes in

Good comp for him

Martinez and Fletcher are interchangeable. It’s hardly noticeable because of how well the offense is doing, but we do a poor job of getting the ball to playmakers in space that are not WRs. For this offense to be this good against good teams, they will need to get CJ and Lyle back in the offense and use the 2 TEs more. We need more balance or expect more 3 and outs like we saw Sat.

Allen needs more carries. He makes plays and is way more explosive than our first two. Use him to stretch the defense laterally

Marines is such a horse. Guy stays on his feet and waits for our line to push him an extra 3 yards. His contact balance is very good. Fletcher is good also and will be the bell cow next year.

I agree that Allen needs more time in the first half. He provides something different. He’s ahead of Lyle at this point also. I hope he stays

Fletcher could be better if he had any vision. Imagine how many yards he’d have if he didn’t run slap into an OL 4 yards down the field every game
Fletcher is a very good back and only 2nd to Martinez right now. He does a lot of things pretty well. It does seem every game that he has 2-3 runs where he should be able to get a big run, but he just runs into traffic.

I thought Fletcher did a good job this year in short yardage situations. When we would just run straight into wall, he would typically move the pile forward for positive yards. He was tough to bring down. However, if he had the opportunity to bounce into a wide-open lane, he would oftentimes trip over his own feet, or get taken down by a defender barely getting his arm on any part of Fletcher.

I looked at the NFL draft projections, and I think it’s possible that Martinez will come back for another season.

Unless Martinez has a great combine, he will be a day 3 pick or an UDFA. Even Brashard Smith (1st team ACC RB) is a much higher rated NFL prospect than Martinez on every draft projection I have seen.

I think Martinez might stay with the Canes next season if the NIL is right
