Let’s Talk Staff

You might remember...

When Richt came here, McClendon didn't come, but was supposed to if I remember correctly...what happened w/ that?

(or am I misremembering...idk)

Isn’t McClendon’s wife an issue here? She didn’t allow him to follow Richt here.

Yeah, he went to USCe. His wife didn’t want to come to Miami at the time. SC was closer to family.
If we didn't have kids together, she would had her walking papers.

Point of note. The kids HATE DVD and he’s not a coach. They call him a “fake DB’s coach” to his face

Keep T-Rob, get rid of the rest.

Hickson is a very good recruiter, I’d keep him too, but idk if Mario will.

Likens is only compatible with an Air Raid OC, Miami ain’t hiring no Air Raid OC, so Likens gotta go.

Ish actually can be an asset as well, but that really depends on which direction he goes on with his Defensive staff.

Get Simpson out of my fckin face & never bring him back here ever again.

Everybody is expendable though, but I’ll be honest, not excited about McClendon coming down here, solid recruiter but not a great coach & idk if we need anybody else from the Richt tree here again.

And while I know everyone is high right now, but once the high comes down it’s very very pivotal that we nail the OC hire, not just from an X’s & O’s standpoint but also from an eval & QB recruiting standpoint. It will be ignored & swept under the rug for the next few years, but it really cannot be overstated at how bad the QB situation was at Oregon, like Miami 2018-2019 kinda bad. Mario is a God I know, but his QB moves since Herbert hit the league were really horrendous & we have to have a guy at OC/QB coach that can handle that on his behalf.

This is by far the biggest area where recruiting cannot take a back seat. We need to have a OC/QB coach that stacks the chips in the QB room. Continue with the progress that Enos( yea yea) started with Van dyke and Lash continued with Garcia and Brown (jury is out). No More Matochas and Rizks of the world.

As for scheme - I would love Barry but, who did he recruit at LSU? I don't think he got Burrow. Dorsey is would be great - especially as a QB coach - but I'm always skeptical of 1st time play callers. But KD is a smart SOB and would probably kill it calling plays.

I guess I'm looking for anyone who resembles the play calling that Alabama has had these past years. From Daboll to Sark to O'Brien.... someone like that.

Of course - It helps to have Stoutland (should've never let him leave), a Marrone or a............ Cristobal..

OC hire is so pivotal. The talent we have right now needs to be taken advantage of.

None, except Field, who has a relationship with Mario. T-Rob has the rep, and I’m willing (no that I matter) to give a pass for this past season as he was given trash players in a trash defense.
I am fully confident that our defense will be light years ahead of this BS Manny defense. You’ll see Linebackers will come to play. I never wanna hear striker again

What do we think the timetable will be on Mario filling out his staff?

If he's been contacted since November, do we think he's got a list drawn up and has already made phone calls?

I’m guessing staff will come into focus after signing day. He’s probably got a few on board (Mirabal) to help but these next few days are going to be about the recruiting class. He will have Field and Cooney at least helping. Going to be crazy.

I find it hilarious that any of those sorry excuse for CBs would tell anyone to STFU. Outside of TS, I really wouldn’t mind if the rest hit the transfer portal. Our talent at CB is pathetic and I really don’t take how the kids feel about DVD with any validity. Not taking a shot at Boarcane either. Just my opinion on how horrible the talent is at the spot right now and how we need a steroid shot in that position room of real talent.

I wouldn't be surprised if Field is retained, but Mario's TE is also his special teams coordinator (Bobby Williams) and he's been working with him for a long time, both at Oregon and Mario took him from Bama when he got the HC job in 2018.

That one will be interesting. He may get unconventional and keep both in some capacity, but how it shakes out will be interesting because both can't coach Tight Ends.
Probably keep the one that can do the most stuff. Cause we **** sure need a decent ST coach.

I don’t think it will be filled before signing day, unfortunately.

I may be wrong but I think Bobby Williams has coached other positions groups during his career. He may bring him in as something else.
