Leaving South Florida?

The difference is if you want to become an actor and you go to school to work at it, you can make it happen. Same with being a pro player. Obviously it takes natural talent, but if you work at it it CAN be accomplished

This is absolutely and absurdly wrong.

I'm a white guy who is 5'10 and weighed all of about a buck fifty at 18. There is literally nothing on earth I could do to get me into the NFL. I would never be big and/or fast enough. And that's assuming I don't get hurt.

And you're completely missing the point/proving my point anyway. You can make the NFL at any school. If you have the choice to get a better education while doing it, that's probably the better decision.

I would argue most adults know what is in a teenager's best interest better than the teenager does.

Thing is, I don't care where you go, your odds of making it to the NFL (and actually staying there for more than a few years) are extremely low. So let's say you go to Bama. You're a five-star guy, you KNOW you're going to make the league. But it doesn't pan out for whatever reason. You get hurt, don't develop, whatever. Now you have a degree from Bama that's only worth anything in Alabama, and all your connections are in a podunk backwater nothing town. Not only is the value of your education relatively low, but you probably didn't get a whole lot of personal attention in class and sat in large lecture halls where you didn't need to really think.

What do you do with that?

Compare that to Miami. Same path to the NFL, similar historical production. You land at a much more academically rigorous school, with small classes, have your family nearby to support you, live in a big, diverse city and have a truly international alumni base to call upon.

It's one thing to choose a place like Michigan or Texas over Miami, but Bama, LSU etc are not better decisions on the whole.
Most adults dont know whats in their own best interest. You’re just wrong, and emotionally projectong here.

Some adults have wisdom. Fan loyalties can confuse your wisdom. When it comes to the interests of kids, the only people with any credible ability to claim dispassiojate interest are parents. If you want to turn the life of so fla kids over to local fans, have at it. I think that sounds crazy.

I'll agree that most adults don't know what's best for them. No idea how you think I'm projecting.

My point isn't to put the lives of the recruits into the hands of the fans, because that's ridiculous. My point is that IN THIS CASE, Miami is logically a better option.

You get a choice between two houses for free. You have no idea how long either will last you, but it stands to reason the more expensive one will because it's built better and with more care. One costs $50K and the other $500K. The cheaper one is located in a place that's less well-positioned for economic growth than the more expensive one. Which should you choose?

If you remove the emotion and appreciate the odds of getting to the NFL are low regardless, Miami is a far more rational economic decision than a place like Bama, Ohio State, FSU, etc.

I had a conversation with a family member who's connected with pee-wee and high school football and we started talking recruiting. Since he's way more involved than me I asked why do kids leave SF so frequently and he said verbatim "Ya'll dorms and locker rooms are outdated. Miami is a small private school, ya'll are not going to impress these boys who just seen million dollar facilities." Then went on to praise Clemson, Bama, Washington, and Oregon's facilities.

But the thing that stuck out the most and he emphasized a lot is that these guys want to get away. He went on to say "Most of these kids have lived in SF for 16-18 years. What else do they need to see?" I didn't specifically ask if people and or outside forces were enforcing this but I kinda assumed by the way he was speaking.

Has anyone heard the same or similar?
Watch LIBERTY CITY WARRIORS on HBO, it will open your eyes to that way of thinking. Is what is, not what was.

Hard to reason with the MEAL TICKET, or those waiting to cash it in.$$ talks, bull**** walks. Sad but true.

You think Miami is somehow generically the best option for all kids you want to go there? Seriously, you sound ridiculous.

Let the kids decide for themselves what their best option is. you don’t know for anyone, let alone everyone. it ain’t your choice in any case. and it ain’t the job of the U to tell koss what is in their best interest. if only we could believably look like we were a good choice for kids, we’d probably do fine.

the dorm situation is the truth. Spoke to a recent signee player for us and he was bummed out about his dorm.lol. I told him he should move off campus next year

And you sound ignorant with a complete lack of reading comprehension skills.

So I'll try to do this slowly for you....

ASSUMING ALL ELSE IS EQUAL

You have the same path to the NFL. One path affords you a much better education than another one and more diverse and spread out national/international alumni network. It's a more intelligent choice.

You know what they say about assuming? You must.

What’s absurd is not so much your arrogance as your ignorance. Alabama alumni, UGA alumni, Notre Dame Alumni, OSU alumni, Michigan alumni, all go on in volumes to do well. Meanwhile, for most recruied athletes, it’s not a material difference in education. UM is a small private school. It’s okay academically, for those who care. Most football players at any of these schools couldnt get in but for football and the difference in microbiology programs is irrelevant to them.

But it makes no difference. Go where you want. Send your kids where you want. Quit whining. Quit telling kids you dont know that you know what is in their interest. You dont. It’s dumb.

How is the new football offices middle of the road if they just got constructed? Imo Miami needs a locker room renovation and new football lounge as well

My homies’ lil relative who wind up going to USC, UV Miami a couple years ago and that was one of the things he low key clowned. He played at Serra High in LA and they are a powerhouse feeder school to SC and he was like their locker room looked about the same.

We need to appeal to these young, impressionable kids. So yeah, that locker room needs updating, and that lounge needs updating.

Yes I know who Serra is that’s where marquise lee went. I agree It needs to be renovated ASAP. For 1-2million they can get the renovation like Texas got in their lockerroom which looks fantastic. And the player locker room looks bland compared to some of the other programs. Needs to be updated

Our facilities being outdated is old. We just built new football facilities and are about to finish up new dorms. Our locker room is fine. It’s not UGA good but it’s not a bad locker room. Your friend is just giving excuses.

We don’t have a wave pool. Or a solar observatory.
