Lets be real. The Diaz/Baker/Patke combo would have made him sit on bench for 3 years while not developing him at the same time.

It should never have been Joyner over Bonito. It should have been both. Bear in mind we only had a counter problem this class and last. We had room before that, in most years lots of room.

The issue is that Joyner isn't a LB, and Bonito is, despite us reading him otherwise when we were recruiting him. We assessed both poorly. Joyner should have been evaluated as a DE. It's an imperfect science but when you take too many a kid on the 'maybe he's a LB, maybe a DE' mindset, you may wind up with depth at DE, but you are unlikely to have good LBs. That's been an issue of ours.
