I've followed Hurricanes football for many years. I don't claim to be a football expert however it's obvious that what we are doing on defense will not win us championships. Thank God for Cam Ward otherwise our record right now would be hovering around .500
Lance Guidry has said time and time again that at the beginning of the game, his style of defense is to watch what the other Team is doing and eventually make adjustments to counter the other Team's offense. This is a "Reactive" style of Defense. Show me any Championship football Team and I'll show you a balls out, proactive, disruptive defense that keeps the other Team's offense guessing. We usually wait until half time to make adjustments and by then we are normally behind a couple of touchdowns or so.
How about this for a change. From our first defensive play of the game, how about if we have the other Team's offense adjust to our Defense, not visa versa? How about if we keep them guessing?, How about if we attack the other Team's offense from our first defensive play? Mix our defenses and change our coverages? Send defensive backs on blitzes regularly from all over the place? Don't give the other Teams offense time to throw? How many sacks do we have so far?? A proactive disruptive Defense!! Trust in our players!
When I see our Defensive play, I see a demotivated Defense period. I don't think our guys believe or trust our style of Defense! Why don't we try something different? What the **** do we have to lose?
We don't do a good job on Defense developing our players either. Our linebackers aren't developed properly. Chase Smith in my opinion is our best linebacker and how much playing time does he play? Have you guys focused on him when he plays? He goes 100 MPH towards the ball and is very disruptive. We also do a lousy job using and developing our safeties, and guess who their coach is, yep Lance Guidry!!
I don't have anything personal against Mr Guidry. I like him as a person, he has a great personality but he is way over his head with this job.
The definition of Insanity is "Expecting different results when you continue doing the same thing". Does this ring the bell?
We will be lucky to win one of our next two games and will be out of the playoffs if we keep doing this ****. Our defensive personnel this year is the best we have had in a long time, but the Defensive and Head coaching is not. Mario trusts in Guidry way too much!
Jason Taylor for DC anyone? If we don't do it, other Teams will poach him and do it. He would be much, much better than Guidry in my opinion.
