Did we not just have the number 2 pass defense in the country in 2010?

Wes McGriff was one of the most underappreciated coaches in Miami history.

He went to Vanderbilt and turned their DBs around. He went to Ole Miss and helped them land the #1 class in the country. He went to the New Orleans Saints and they went from historically awful to pretty good.

He will be a defensive coordinator in the NFL sooner than later.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

+1, I'd add Palermo to that list. Great DL coach.

Petri was one **** of a DL coach. We had a solid RB coach under Randy also, but his name eludes me. Terry Richardson was a stud RB coach, but Jedd took him to Jax

The safety position improved in a hurry.

We went from Highsmith and Rodgers to a three-deep of killers with ball skills.

Honestly we have some talent @ Safety now.....Honestly D...after watching the spring...A guy like Fentress is a solid rotation guy @ safety. In spring game he tracked a ball from center field and laid a near catch out of Garret Kidd's hand on the sidelinethat got every body amped ....

Thig is ...a guy like Artie Burns can kick back to safety withouit blinking an eye....and guys have flat out forgot about Rayshawn Jenkins...(who i y fav safety.next to Jamal)

That game was after a coach was fired but yes that pass defense was number two in the country, (led by our last all American), along with a defense of line top five in sacks and tfl. People would like to have you believe golden started with the 100 ranked defense.

I'd give my left nut to have Palermo coaching our DL. Look at the drop-off of Calais Campbell from Palermo coaching him to Hurtt.

I'm jacked up about our secondary. No way around it.

Both of these.

I can't wait to see these cats ball out!

Agreed, but hope Bush finds a way to stay healthy. Think he can be the anchor of this unit.

Bush seemed to have his speed back this spring, we really need him this year.

Right there with you. Been a decade since we've had this level of athleticism in our secondary ... Jamal Carter, Bush, and Dallas Crawford all with hit you square in the mouth.

And oh yeah Tracy and Artie at the corners, with Gunter, A Crawford and Elder behind them.

Now if we could just get the front 7 squared away.

I knew our D was good but I didn't know it was that good back then. Shannon did a good job with the defensive personal. The offense uhhhhhhh.... wellll.....

Hester is going to be a good one. Has an attitude like Dallas and plays with a purpose. I hope we can shirt him now that we have 4 solid guys in Bush, Jenkins, Carter and Dallas. But he may just work his way into the rotation based on his talent and relentlessness.

lol...You guys always forget about Special Teams. If he is good he not going to play 4 years anyway. So why red shirt him if he can make plays and become acclimated to college football on Special teams

What was our rank against the run? I seem to recall we ranked that high because teams used to just forgo the pass because they could run down our throats...

From these stats only 172 yds a game... 323 yards a game total .... **** ..... I forget what under 500 yds a game feel like... I'm about to cry

When the Philadelphia Eagles picked up Antonio Dixon, they said that he wasn't draftable out of college (coached by Hurtt) but improved enough during Redskins training camp (with Palermo) that he was worth an active roster spot.

That told me all I needed to know about both guys.

I get the sense that if we had Palermo or Petri our 3-4 would look a **** of a lot better. And I did love me some McGriff. Not all of Randy's hires were as bad as Nix or Mosley.
