Breaking news: Lane Kiffin has been relieved of his duties as USC's head football coach per AD Pat Haden.

Kiffin is an assbag and a corch. He's incontrovertibly not the long term answer for USC.

But if I'm USC, I don't see the upside of firing him right now. The one good thing Kiffin is good at is recruiting and he'll keep some recruits and keep the cupboards somewhat full for the next coach.

And with their limited scholarships and injuries they're going to struggle mightily for the remainder of the year anyway. Why not wait and fire him at the end of November?

Let anyone try succeeding there w 56 kids on scholarship. Those sanctions are weighing heavy on USC.
Even Golden wasn't that limitedat any point here...

Pete Carrol left USC a mess.

USU alumni considers themselves elite. They believe they are highbrow. With Stanford winning the right way, the booster community is livid in Cali. They hated the hire from day one. If they didn't term him, the money wasn't coming from their largest donors. They will find someone better suited, mature, for that job. They will have a ton of support from their tight nit and POWERFUL Alumni community. It's going to be a long year for them.

This. It's a bad bad situation there. It will definitely take 2 years to clean that mess up.

Lanes a great coach just was in a lose lose situation first 2 years were solid then the sanctions started to take their tole
I'd love having him as OC after this year when coley takes a head coaching job

Let the Saben, Miles and the rest of the usual suspects talk begin. Butch would be a perfect fit. He's done it before and is the best talent evaluator in college football. He would make that short roster pop. They could have him today too, FWIW.

A big no thanks on that one! Lane Kiffin is the walking embodiment of nepotism. Everywhere he has been a head corch--Raiders, Tennessee and now USC--he has left a smoking crater. That is despite having talent (top recruiting classes galore) and resources at his disposal. Never has so little been accomplished with so much. UT fans were right to dedicate a sewage plant to him.

AND.......... he bites the hand that feeds him. He hurt Al Davis and UT fan base. He's untrustworthy and selfish. He's a dirty dog. I would not trust him in my home alone.

Let's hope they take Smart from Bama. That would hurt Bama and might not help USC that much. Even if he returns USC to the top, we can compete with them.

LULZ. The guy's been nothing but a failure everywhere he's been. The dummies like him because he has swag. What a bunch of morons who think he's anything but a bum. Dummies will start making excuses for him, yet he sucked at USC long before the depth excuse became viable this year. The next coach is the one who will have to deal the most with the effects of the sanctions.

Two corpses, Monty Kiffin and Al Davis, just toasted to this news. How much extra time did scapegoating his own dad buy him? 4 games? What a cumbag.

Because signing day ain't in November so your idea would just make it harder for them to finish their class.

Honestly, I think your going be surprised by which coaches show interest. I think we're going see big time coaches wanting in at USC, look at what Golden has done I think coaches look at that and say if I can get into the California recruiting grounds at a school like USC then the rebuild time is shortened and the dividends are huge.
