So I was thinking case we see and hear this a lot that a recruit is a big Miami fan like a diehard fan or something along those lines. Yet said recruit goes to UF or FSU... So my question is how could a "Fan" of Miami go to our biggest rivals?

A lot "grew up" fans of miami and when they were growing up Miami was great. basically a lot were bandwagon fans.

At this point the last time Miami was even good was when they were 6 or 7 probably.

But agree, if you are really a die hard Canes fan, you don't go to UF or FSU.

You one get one shot at life and college is a big part of it. They may have grown up rooting for UM. But if they conclude UF or FSU is their best option, I can't fault them. Plenty of UM fans go to a state school because it's cheaper. Is that much different? If they really wantedto, they could pile up more debt to go to Um. But maybe that doesn't make sense for em.

Also, just because you love a girl doesn't mean you should marry her. There's more to life than emotion. Especially when it comes to big decisions.

I played D1 baseball and when I went on my visits I put aside what schools I liked or disliked. I went to where I felt most comfortable. With that said, I never visited Miami!

We are talking about kids who come out and say UM is their dream school..
Today many of these kids are playing a recruiting game waiting for the scouts and fans to stroke their egos..
Social media is a tool for them and they play up to fans from all schools just to get followers..
Some will say UM is their dream school and yet when they get an offer they don't commit or go elsewhere..
Kids like Duke are rare and look at Briscoe who lives in LA and committed on the spot after Golden offered him..
I don't remember which 2012 kid in my quote thread said his best visit was Georgia because he felt very
comfortable there and yet he committed to us because UM was his dream school..
These kids are all different..

Some say it because they don't want to burn that bridge..

Not sure what you mean?

I think some say that to scouts so if their real dream school doesn't come calling then they could fall back on their home town school..
Just my opinion not factual..

What?

He's saying recruits will say they have always been fans of their home school team so they have the option of falling back to that school if their real dream school doesn't offer them a scholarship.

I disagree though. I don't see why someone would say that because coaches wouldn't care what the player's dream school is anyway. If coaches did care, then it would be really dumb for a player to say their dream school is Miami when it is actually FSU..

To be fair the guys we're recruiting now were in elementary school when we were any good. So they probably didn't really care about football at that point.

Yeah it shouldnt matter ...Go to LSU or Bama then why go to a place like FSU or UF where you job for the next 4 years is to make your "favorite" school look bad
