FWIW..
Nebraska is losing 11 starters.
O-line: lose 4 of 5 starters
WR: lose their leading WR
TE: They played a few TEs, but the "starter" was a senior
QB: Taylor Martinez is gone, but he missed a large part of the season. Two QBs split reps the rest of the season....here are their numbers
NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Tommy Armstrong Jr. 68 131 966 51.9 7.37 9 8 124.3
Ron Kellogg III 80 134 919 59.7 6.86 6 3 127.6
Kellogg was a senior, so the starting QB in '14 will probably be Armstrong. Armstrong was the starter against UGA in the Gator Bowl.
At RB they have pretty good depth. Ameer Abdullah, a junior, rushed for over 1600 yards, but is returning for his senior season.
Defense 4-3
D-Line: looks like they lose 2 out of 4 starters, but like many schools, they platoon guys in and out at d line.
LB: all starters are returning. LBs on their 2-deep for the Gator Bowl don't boast great size.
DB: they lose 3 of 4 starters.
Overall...under Pelini Nebraska is an up and down team. They do lose a lot of starting talent, so it'll be interesting to see how they play next season. We do play them at Nebraska, and with the history Miami and Nebraska have....I'm sure Lincoln will be loud and ready for Miami to come to town.
Bottom line
Al has hands full with Louisville and Nebraska early. He needs to deliver in both games. Nebraska's WRs aren't that good, and our WRs should have an advantage over the Cornhusker DBs. Miami will need DORITO to stop Abdullah and contain Armstrong. He is an athletic QB. Pelini is a defensive minded coach, so Coley will have his hands full.....can we please stop having the guard tap the center...and have the center stop snapping the ball on a consistent and predictable cadence.
We can win, but our Defensive play, the play of our QB.....and having a healthy Duke will be the key.
