With 18 yr olds, defections are always a distinct possibility-- happens every year. I count on no recruit before I hear/see the LOI is signed and delivered.
1) Kaaya will surely be given the full court press
2) He may be susceptible to being picked-off by a PAC 12 team
3) He may also see Golden zips D'Nofrio come January and brings in a new DC with a new scheme-- that's a full month before signing day
4) Given the offensive weapons he has to work with-- and knowing that Olsen has had issues grasping the offense, he may see this as a better opportunity to get early shot at starting HERE
5) He more than likely watched most/all of our games, and may have concluded that Mongo Morris is a lunkhead-- and if we'd had a real Div I QB, many of the defensive shortcomings could've been overcome--
a QB that can drive 80 yards, who doesn't lock onto a WR, one that can check down & scan the field, and doesn't constantly turn the ball over with careless overthrows, deflections, an throwing into double coverage. A QB that can be counted on to cash in on red zone opportunities, and one where the OC doesn't have to throw out half the playbook b/c it might lead to another turnover in the end zone. That would've been the difference this year.
Lets hope he's thinking tis way. Our struggles the past decade have been due in large part to OC turnover/ineptitude-- and also a lack of legitimate QB talent. We need a stud- not another project.
