Coaches usually specialize in recruiting or developing, rarely do u find a coach who is elite at both. Rumph is probably the best position coach on the defensive side of the ball considering he's a great developer (MJ, Corn) and has done a good job at recruiting (Couch, Bandy, Williams, Blades).

Corn was a 4 star. They both were 5th rd draft picks and ran good 40 times. So much for development. For years the SEC, FSU, VT, and the B10 have recruited good and developed together. Please stop it.

Corn had his best year under Rumph which is what enabled him to even get drafted. I'm sure everyone thought MJ was getting drafted when he first got on campus too, huh? No. When has anyone ever said our CB need to be coached better during Rumphs tenure? Never. If anything that has been one of the most solid positions on the defense.

Oh, and u left out the part about him bringing Blades, Williams, Couch, and Bandy to The U. U omit the fact that 80%+ of our CBs are blue chippers.

Name me 2 coaches on FSU or VT that recruit and develop at an elite level. U can't, bc coaches are usually elite at one or the other, rarely both. Name me one on Miami.

I just look at the players that played for them and how well they played while being drafted high. It’s too many to name. **** FSU just got Dent last cycle, he’s elite as it gets.

What does Dent being elite have to do with a coach being elite in recruiting and developing? U can't name 5 coaches in the whole ACC that are elite at both. I can't think of one from FSU or VT. Miami doesn't even have one. Maybe one of the offensive guys like Field has the potential but no one on the defensive side has proven they are elite at both. Rumph and Banda are the closest we got.

So he is free to blame if he doesn’t land a “safety” which is really in Banda and a kid in the heart of Tennessee? Come on man. This has a been a long shot from the start. Y’all just jumped on this hype train cause he is Elders Cousin right?

They got that part right so once he gets on the field the 2nd part will have it’s chance. FSU has whipped our *** in DB recruiting the whole 2000’s and they produced more higher picks than we have. Don’t kid yourself. Who the DB coach at osu? VT DBs have been better than ours too. It’s too many to name bro, stop over praising Rumph, he’s just ok.

Well, since you want to bring this back up...

1.) I've said from jump that UT will be hard to beat for this kid.
2.) I wasn't JUST talking about Lawrence in particular. R-E-A-D what I said and answer my first question. It's a simple yes/no. Some clearly think the answer is yes, and I find that ridiculous.
3.) This "really isn't Banda" as we are clearly recruiting the kid as a CB. Forget what the ******* recruiting sites list him as. We are recruiting him as a CORNERBACK and RUMPH is his primary and has been the main one recruiting him and RUMPH was the one that went to see him during spring eval, not Banda. But sure, prematurely pin this on Banda. And no, I'm not Captain Save Banda either, but atleast let's atleast label this kids recruiter correctly. It's RUMPH, not Banda.

Rumph or Banda don’t matter we have always been in the outside looking in. I don’t follow your threads and what you have been saying. Simply stating Rumph shouldn’t get dogged if he doesn’t land this kid.

And I agree with your overall conclusion. Once again, my question wasn’t aimed at Lawrence so we are on same page.

Rumph is leading his recruitment, Just becuase he plays S doesn't mean Banda is responsible for his recruitment.

This kid going to stay at corner in college. Rumph is his lead recruiter so fine the blame or no blame will land on him. I live in the area so I’m going to try and get out to a game and see this kid play live.

The problem is when you don’t have anybody on staff that’s elite at one side of the equation. When everybody is a developer, or everybody is a recruiter.

Fuente has built that kind of staff at VT, where he basically has no recruiters. And that caught up to their defense last year. None of their developers could overcome the hole the recruiting misses dug for them.

Our defensive staff doesn’t have a recruiter on it. South Florida talent is going to stop us from falling as bad as it got for VT last year. But the lack of recruiters is going to prevent us from taking the next step.

We have one and a possible recruiting specialist on offense with Field being the ace and Hickson as the possible. I agree that we need an ace on defense. We could easily bring in one to replace Patke or Stroud and we would be better for doing so. I honestly think Manny needs a better staff around him and if we struggle this year that is where people will point their finger.

Is Kevin Patrick a good recruiter? Former great Cane DL and coaches at NC State. If so, bring him home next year.

I think this is the plan. Stroud was not brought on to be an on the field coach. I hope next year is the year we bring Patrick home!

That's the guy we need but why wasn't he considered this year before Stroud was promoted?
