Wiley Jr and Hayes (along with Pruitt, Bobby Wash Jr) are the reason I dont understand why we even are in the portal looking for LBs right now. Let these young kids have a shot. Anthony Hill Jr had a HUGE impact as a Tr-Fr at Texas. Wiley Jr can do the same. You can always go in the portal and grab a LB after Spring if they think the room needs an upgrade.

I know CIS and the national rankings loved Hayes. But I wasn’t as high on him, seemed a little stiff to me. This kid Wiley on the other hand is as good as it gets.

Do we know if any or all of Bissainthe, Alderman and Chase Smith plan to return? If we do go portal for an LB, ai expect it’s to replace or upgrade one of them.

I’m a Bobbys and Popo fan. Those three are a good nucleus along with Hayes. But we need at least four projected starters to complete the rotation, and I don’t think relying on first year’s is sound roster management. I can see us grabbing another proven guy from the portal depending on who is coming back.

Popo will be the dude next year. Wesley and him probably starters. Alderman next off the bench is guess. Hayes got some mop up time. Pruitt will be all over the field playing starter minutes. Forget the portal got a backer. If Bobby can’t play this year in year 3 he never will. This ain’t complex.

He an Early Enrollee? I expect him to be an immediate Special Teams contributor and get a couple handfuls of snaps per game by the middle of the season. Hopefully starter by the end of the season (along with Popo and Pruitt/Bobby)... Tough to go into what we have early in the season - UF and ND in first 4 weeks with a true frosh LB unless he is clear and away THE guy throughout practice. Like OJ was for us at CB. Gunna have to be consistent for weeks in camp. Cause all our young LBs have shown flashes and have all American potential... But none of them ended up starting over Kiko/Wes this year and they weren't bery good. And Popo and then Alderman were next up in the rotation anyways....

But To me Wes doesn't have a good enough comprehension of the defense and this was as a guy who has basically started 3 years now. He was okay this year but imo doesn't have the starter role 100% on lock or anything. Alderman isn't a very good athlete. I'd easily trade both them for a top MLB in portal to be the leader of this defense immediately. Someone like a Denzel Perryman or Shaq Quarterman. Tough to get that leader type personality as just a 1yr transfer guy though....

Popo is clearly a starter entering next season though. Assuming we don't get portal LB Popo and Wes are starters.

Bobby is an all-world athlete but has had some injuries and also clearly doesn't study enough otherwise he'd be a starter. But I expect him to earn heavy rotational snaps.

Pruitt is a dawg but is slim. More of a nickel and weak side lb. He needs a lot of PT next yr period, but IDK if he will be a starter.

Between Pruitt and Bobby at one spot, Popo and Wes, those are probably the top 4 in snaps to start season. But probably 6 guys will earn meaningful minutes especially if you account for injuries... So I think at worst Wiley is probably 5th in the pecking orde

I agree move slow @ss 31 to middle lb to the bench if he isnt better . Move Bain to Dt too . Time to make this team faster . We can’t have know more pulling guards at safety or at lb
