Keith Bryant

Man all you all trying to read tea leaves need to just dig reality. If Keith Wants to be here, he will be here, if he doesnt, he's going to jam. Kid, Mom, none of that sh*t matters in the end. Weve had these kinds of situations every year. Remember Antone Smith's mother crying her eyes out when he chose FSU? Remember Jonathan Colon's father storming out of the auditorium when he signed with UF?

This kid is 18, and he's going to go where HIS gut tells him. In the end, mama will say "I just want him to go wherever he will be happy".

I do think we have a very good shot with the kid, but dont be shocked if he's got it in his head that he wants to go somewhere else. Sometimes you just cant help that. The same kid you all think will make him want to stay here, may just as easily be pushing him to leave the area, as he may be thinking he can just go have a good time somewhere else and escape his responsibilities.

Not trying to be a Debbie downer here, but this sh*t happens every year, and it still amazes me how many people act shocked and totally blown away when one of these local kids screws us. I hope we land this kid, and think we have a good shot, but dont be stunned if he screws us, history says at least ONE of Collins, Bryant, Thomas is going to break our hearts. Maybe even more than one.

I had succeded in forgetting Jonathan Colon until you brought it up. Might as well throw John Caple in there too. By the way I agree with you100%.

The one that hurt me the most....,Lamont Green.
couldn't believe he went to FSU from Southridge.

Al Golden says **** history.

Al is the T8ts, but some of you are really going overboard imbuing the guy with super human powers. Even Butch, who assembled the best collection of talent in a college football team ever, still got shafted by kids every year. It happens to the best coaches every year.

Im just saying, lets keep our heads about us. Because when we dont, what will STILL be a great class, is going to feel like a disappointment, and then some of the bigger hot heads will come in here and start trashing and talking sh8t about kids and their families, and invariably some douchebag will start trashing OUR coaches saying we cant close, etc....

I firmly believe Golden has done all he can do to get these kids. We have a LOT of sh*t working against us right now, so if we can manage to land a few of Bryant, Bostwick, Kirkland, Coley, Collins, and Thomas, it will be a major victory regardless. After decades of following this stuff, its just almost a guarantee that one or two of these kids who should be ours, are going to break our hearts on NLOID.

Good post, especially for newer followers of recruiting. History repeats itself in recruiting just like in anything else. Reading this board, we have our fair share of delusional fans as well when it comes to recruiting. Nobody gets everyone. Just know that this BS is the way it goes in the internet era, particularly with South Florida kids. It only gets worse the closer we get to signing day.

And before that, Marvin Jones, who was a stud at FSU right out of the gate, though I'm not sure he ever won against the Canes.

Seems like kids who play these games, even ones who choose Miami, more often than not, don't pan out.

Marvin Jones was painful as well.

Realists -

Great job outlining prospects who, in the past, have chosen to go to a school besides Miami. Lucid, and well-thought responses, all. I can't fault your logic, your demeanor, or your method. I do, however, disagree. We on a roll baby. Until I see otherwise, here's who I choose to believe we will get:

Why do I feel like Keith is Marcus Forston part 2? Forston was actually more dominant at the high school level IMO, but came in with an entitelment mentality and never blossomed into the beast we all wanted and the team sorely needed. Can't help but shake that same feeling here.

Forston had sh*t coaching around him. If he comes in, is instantly on UTough, and does proper nutrition, he might've been a whole different player with a whole different attitude. We will never know!

We have a coach now that is much better equipped to deal with those types of issues IMO...

This. The SEC is littered with these type of kids.

Those type of kids wouldn't amount to much under Coker/Shannon...

It's a defense mechanism in your brain because you're afraid he'll go to FSU so you want to believe this.

Marcus was just hurt all the time... Had a pretty good freshman campaign and a solid rs-sophomore/3rd year campaign... He then proceeded to get injured again... He actually had a good dline coach in Petri his 3rd year here... I don't think Utough would have done anything different for Marcus... Its just another off-season workout program... I think him realizing what type of DT he wanted to be (as far as style of play) and a little bit of luck as far as health wise would had improve his production at the U... He gave us solid production in 2010 with his 13 tackles for loss and he impacted the game in other ways as well. He wasn't a wasted talent, just a damaged talent... If one of our DT's give us MF production from 2010 then our defense would be better...

L$U just offered Keef.

That was during an era where UF and FSU was successfully poaching sofla talent (Jones, Green, Gibson, Minnis, Rolle, et al) and we....weren't. Also, FSU teams back then were flat out dominant and could do what they wanted in recruiting.
