Interesting reading - Chapter 2 "The Closer" in the book The System. someone recommended this on a thread last fall. I went out and got it to read on the train. Very entertaining, and eye opening, to say the least.

One quote about the SEC:

"All things being equal, in our conference hostesses can be a real difference maker. Let's not forget these are college girls dealing with high school boys."

Everytime I See a kid post "got to do what is best for me" or "make a business decision" I know that means they got paid and aint coming to Miami.
 
Money aside since that's a given..I think girls is way up there along with college atmosphere. You send a horny 17-18 year old to a campus and all he sees is girls from every race wanting to "get to know you"...that's hard to pass up.

Bobby Bowden can thank my alma mater (FAMU) for 90% of his recruiting successes during his epic run of top recruiting classes in the 90s.

College atmosphere is big as well. Hard to turn down some of these SEC schools (Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Gainesville, Ole Miss, Miss state, etc) that basically don't have any pro team in the city to compete against so every game is like the Super Bowl and the city is your oyster.

Preach, this especially true for big linemen when they go on recruiting trips to these SEC schools or Big 10 schools they find big pretty girls ready and willing. Where as the typical UM model type co-ed is not trying to hear anything from the big boi's on recruiting trips.

Aside from the shady things that go on with influencers and street agents I would like to think most south Florida guys just want to play with their boys they are close with ball out and get to the league playing for coaches they trust can get them there. Winning the ship is a bonus also and proximity is not the end all be all am I right.

Regarding the abundance of ***** available to players, it doesn't stop at recruitment. I hang out with a guy who played college baseball at Alabama and is now with the San Francisco Giants. He said the football players were treated like gods on campus. After a game, the football players would come into this particular bar. The coeds used to line up behind the bar, and drop their panties to let one of the players hit it from the back (or bayk, if you prefer). I'm sure that happens at other schools as I have heard similar stories from other guys that played at other schools but particularly in the SEC.

Absolutely. My uncle coached at FAMU back in the day and he said that is FSUs #1 recruiting tool. Only reason FSU can keep up.
