I don't buy that for a minute. First, if anyone actually said that, they should be tossed into Biscayne Bay with cement shoes. Second, this should have no bearing on Salter because you shouldn't expect Salter to spend more than 1 year at UM. If we have a successful season, he's one and done. Third, it would be incredibly stupid for this to be an approach to QBs in the portal, as you don't know what's going to happen with QBs next year. Maybe Williams arm isn't ever the same or Brown just wants a fresh start somewhere else even with a 1 yr rental. If that happens, a coach will be thanking his lucky stars that his starting QB has another year of eligibility.

No way they bring a dude in the summer to take a guy that’s been getting 1 reps all spring and is on his 3rd year in the program.

The above might seem like histrionics to some but it really should just be obvious to all. Year 3 is simply wayyyyy more often than not the infection point of whether a HC is going to be successful/turn a program around- and that's even still relying on the more "patient" processes associated with the pre-NIL/Portal landscape.

Do whatever, spend whatever, sell your souls but we simply need legitimate and respect-worthy momentum coming out of this season. That momentum will fix wayyyy more lingering issues than the cost of it will create.
 
We’re in the playoff next year if we get this guy. I’d really love to have an offseason where I can be an optimist.

I dont believe the hurt feelings bs one bit. If you get a good to great starter, no one cares who transfers out. Then by the time he graduates you got at the very least judd/nickle and maybe emory waiting to take over.

If he stinks it up year 1 then you sell everyone on open battle.

He worded it as he thinks as in his opinion which could be based on conversations with himself for all anyone knows. Cribby has even said we talked to Salter which would seem to be counter to the one year bridge thinking.

Gaby also said they are having conversations with Salter and Reese, the 2 year thing is in response to whether or not the staff pulls the trigger on him or not. Gaby also said he disagrees with only going for a one year plan guy. Point is no one knows what the staff will do yet just that theres prelim conversations being had.
