Kacy Rodgers & AJ Highsmith

Jenkins is in for sure.

I hope Deon is healthy before we start playing teams that can actually pass. So far there hasn't been much of a test for the secondary.

The whole secondary looks light years better than last year due to much better DLine play!

It helps now that the QB doesn't have 10 sec to find a WR each snap!

I'm the biggest cane fan it is but our two safeties are not better than terrance brooks fsu he will be a 2round pick at least lets not go over board and ramsey is a 5star freshman I believe deon and rayshawn are gonna be stick and boom but we really havent been tested yet lets hold on there rodgers I still have to see him against unc because nobody we've played outside of uf has gave us a real challenge

My brain hurts from trying to read this crap.

Fact of the matter is that we've yet to face a competent passer. I'm not going to bust out the annointing oils for Rodgers and Highsmith because I still don't think they can cover their own shoes. Highsmith, especially, is a sitting duck in the passing game because he doesn't possess the requisite necessities to play DB at this level.

I'm glad that Bush has had the chance to recover while we've been facing teams that don't throw the football well. Bush showed a flash of that old explosion when he drilled Johnnie Bench on the blitz. Then, he got beat for a TD a minute later. We need Jenkins and Bush trusting himself to be healed back there to be our best when we start seeing good passing QBs.

Our first big test for our safeties in coverage will be against UNC. They have looked pretty awful early, but Renner is still a decent QB and Fedora like to spread the ball and use the middle of the field. Ebron is the best tight end we will face all year and can really be a weapon for them. This week, it's all about run support and not getting tricked. In two Thursdays, we'll see how good our safeties are in coverage.

Both are leaders and have improved, and been asked to do less (our front 7 is light years better than in 2012).

Highsmith was a QB the first two years here, hrmph... took those for the team.

Rodgers, after moving from CB, has played well at safety.

Lots of confidence in all 4.

They've been playing well but we haven't really played anyone outside of Florida. That said, they are great guys to have on your team - experienced, solid special team guys, smart, etc.

I know guys like to harp on their athletic ability but KR is actually a decent athlete. Love him as a safety crashing down in run support. One thing about those dudes - they are both strong and solid tacklers.

All of this. My sentiments exactly.

Hate to be the voice of reason here but
Highsmith wouldn't start at FIU...

He's a great cane very discipline but he's not talented.... Jenkins disappointed me on that long run against Usf...he takes bad angles at times.. But he has talent. Not a finished product . Rodgers is great against the run don't want him at deep safety though... Yea he tackles high but he doesn't miss any tackles just don't want him or high smith playing the pass... They don't have the instincts for it

I think Rodgers has been responsible against the run (ie where he should be) but he is a horrific tackler. Last game he showed two more of his patented Superman moves where he dives at some ballcarrier with his arms out and lands at least a yard away creating a sizable gain. Jenkins also badly botched the longest run of the game by underrating the back's speed--Gunter had to save him. I think the play of these guys against the run has been masked somewhat by the improved play of the front 7 (especially) and the corners--they just aren't facing a lot of situations where they are the only guy left to prevent a big play. It's been more of a gang approach which is helping everyone. Against the pass they've been doing fine although we still haven't faced a competent pass offense.

The jury is still out. A healthy Bush is definitely the choice but it still may be awhile for him. Jenkins overall has been the best guy thus far IMO. The other guys are adding important depth.

I like the way they've been playing and you can tell they've definitely improved from last year. I'm fine with them rotating RJ,KR and AJ until Bush is fully healthy. But If I'm a coach I want Bush back before or in time for the FSU game.

It's not really a run-on sentence if there is no period at the end? ;-)

Lol my bad on the punctuation forgot you guys are English teachers. I was simply stating that bush and rayshawn are good but lets not say better than fsu. They have a legit high nfl prospect back there in Terrance brooks and ramsey was a 5star player. We still haven't been tested yet and won't be until unc. Rodgers does look tougher this year but no real comp yet

Bush & Jenkins for me. But Rodgers and Highsmith are doing what you hope your seniors can do. It's a good situation, IMO.

None of our first four opponents had any semblance of a competent passing attack.

Let's revisit this thread in a few weeks. We're going to need good safety play if we're going to have a chance to win up at Tally. Have these 2 improved? Tough to say...they haven't been tested yet in my eyes.

It wasn't only the horrifying stab at forming a sentence that made it such a putrid post. The content was equally infantile and insipid.

Just want to get the opinion around here.

Do you guys feel their play has been sufficient and they're stepping up like they are supposed to their senior year, or would you still prefer Deon Bush and Rayshawn Jenkins to be getting most of the PT

Deon Bush isn't back to normal so he shouldn't be starting.
