I remember reading that the QB would be chosen based on Points? If thats the case, from what we have seen and read, no way is it anyone but Kaaya. Heaps missed a whole scrimmage. Anyone else remember reading that, and/or feel different?

I'm still feeling Kaaya. Said to myself going into this off-season, if Olsen doesn't take it into his own hands I see Kaaya as our guy.

I view Heaps as insurance for us. Just in case. But that's me.

Think it would be ballsy to have Kaaya come out onto the field starting QB as a freshman but might pay off.

I understand wanting to redshirt him but I feel like he is just a better quarterback than Heaps. This program is supported by fans who want to see wins so year to year you start the best guy. Kaaya.

I also believe it will be Kaaya. I just hope they do not announce it until gametime. Make LOU game plan watching our film, kansas, and high school games

Any fan who has followed this regime should have 0 doubts that it will be Heaps......If Kaaya was an EE it would be different but Al has to win now and there's not enough tape of Kaaya on this level.

At this point, I think Heaps. I mean if we were seriously pressed into it, I would have no problem starting Kaaya. But Golden and Coley have seen the kid more than us and he sees him in the film room too. There is alot more that goes into being a QB than throwing the ball. Heaps has been in the fire, so he knows things that Kaaya wouldnt at this point. I think we let Kaaya RS and bring him on the road, but let him learn the college game a little bit before we turn him loose on opposing defenses!

Gonna be Heaps and should be Heaps. If it's close you go with the experienced Senior IMO. But I would be more than confident with Kaaya starting and do think he is the future.

I say if it's even and he is as good as a 5th year senior as a freshman I go with Kaaya

I think he STARTS Heaps, but if there is any struggle at all, he pulls him for Kaaya. One thing is certain, he has an eye on the future, not just today. It's why he let the D take a beating to implement the D he wants. He believes the D will be better when the guys are older, more experienced, and more talent arrives. Of course, not everyone shares that view, but not everyone is making the decisions. For this reason, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts Kaaya knowing he is the future. He knew Olsen wasn't, but he has to know Kaaya is. He also knows Jake Allison is coming in a couple years, so there's no need in redshirting Kaaya.

One thing to consider is this. How did Heaps actually do when he played in hostile environments? If memory serves me correctly, it wasn't so good. So maybe, just maybe, Heaps is just an insurance policy for Kaaya. Better than an injured Williams who can't play, and better than Olsen who won't work.

I gotta roll with Kaaya. Let him go to Louisville and let Duke/Yearby/Gus try and win that game. You let Kaaya get thrown into the fire, but then remember we have two games after that where he should be able to get his feet under him a little better, before the schedule stiffens again.

I'd like to see this as well. I'd like to see Kaaya burn them a few times when they blitz, then watch them cry as they lose at home to a true freshman QB. I just have a feeling Heaps, even though experienced, will have a deer in the headlights look to him. I still think Heaps starts, but is pulled if he looks like anything other than a 5th year senior, which I think he will.

It's the constant comments about his poise that has me thinking Kaaya. You know Golden wants to limit turnovers and not have his QB wilt. Heaps has game experience but that's the only thing pushing him. Kaaya is going to have to get in there eventually, having back to back weaker games following it should help him.

Agreed. I know Heaps has never had the talent to work with that he has here, but I can't shake his performance against Utah 3-4 years ago. He was roadkill. If he comes out and remotely resembles THAT Heaps, then he'd better get pulled and let the future begin. Assuming he starts, that is.
