Just watched game again-score was not reflective of game

One thing I noticed that I must blame OC Coley for . Is the weird/ retarded way we run play action.

We have a right handed QB and we decide to line our RB on his right side, so when he fakes the hand off Morris has to do a 180 turn and throw across his body to the left?

WTF!! is that?

Line up the RB to his left so he can roll to his right, Gaud Dammit!! Much easier throw Coley!!

maybe he sets it up like that for a reason

SM's ankle?

maybe

but i dont even know what he's talking about.... it doesnt make sense.

I agree, they are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook.

BUT it's time to move on. GO CANES- BEAT TECH. Let's focus on lining up round 2!

Does anyone have a clip of the Morris to Waters miss on the slant??

I don't have a clip but I rematches and IMHO it wasn't a td. The safety ran to where the ball was being thrown which was high and behind waters. That is why it looks like it could have gone for six. If Morris throws it correctly I think he takes a different angle of attack. Even if it is throw correctly I'm still not sure it's automatic he would have scored. While the defenders weren't in great position they might have been able to get a hand on him. Also from researching it looked like there was a lot of congestion in the area which is why the throw was poor. Could have been just Morris' poor accuracy though.

2 things that changed the game. When Morris was sacked deep in our territory. He had Coley on the post but he waits too long. And then on the interception to PJ Williams. It was the same play just flipped. He waits until Coley comes open instead of throwing him open. He really lacks anticipation of throws at times.

Just saw Morris overthrow Coley in the 2nd on 3rd and long and the replay showed Duke sliding out of backfield for what would have been a nice gain, but Morris chunked it long.

And THIS is why the FSU game was not closer, and why our offense has been struggling. Morris simply cannot go through his progressions and find the open receiver. There are open receivers, there are holes in the defense to exploit, he just cannot find them.

Morris hates the check down and is too **** greedy. If we take what the defense gives us we keep drives alive and allow the defense to stay off the field. Short passes canbe an extension of the run game, but he would rather lock on down field.

We cannot get off the field on 3rd down, it is the most frustrating thing to watch. We play decent for the 1st two downs and then you just know that the other team is going to convert on 3rd.

Its funny every random time morris has thrown a check down this season it has been for 8+ yrds, you would think one would look for it often

That missed FG also sucked....we would have had a lead after the first TD to Hurns if we had made that.

I turned to my friend when Golden sent Goudis out for that FG and said we should go for it, there is no way he makes it.

As for the Coach D debate, debate it all you want, but not based on this game. No one, and I mean no one has come close to slowing FSU down this year, and I don't think anyone will. We actually have done the best job. I take absolutely nothing from this game about Coach D's defense.

75% of people on here think the solution to all defensive woes is "Blitz and play Man."

Never mind Winston and FSUs WRs have destroyed man coverage all year long.

And the fact that Winston complete something like 75% of his passes against the blitz. I honestly thing the problem was the Safety play. We need to have great Safety play to hang with them, we need guys over the top helping out, we needed them to come up an make a tackle in the open field, and we needed them to play some one vs one at times. They did a pretty good job over the top (2 picks) sucked balls in run support (bad angles, missed tackles) and were mediocre in coverage (gave up easy catches on third downs)

Agree, love the effort Highsmith has shown but he's just not very good and was victimized on the KB throw downfield. Showed no awareness or ball skills. Jenkins is turning into a better player but we need Bush to show more and soon for the defense to make improvement.

the 11-15 3rd down conversions against this defense was the reason Miami got blown out, simple as that.

LMFAO

We got blown out, because our offense only converted 1 3rd down in the 2nd half of the game. That came with less than a minute left in the game. 1 of 5 on 3rd downs. Is what causes teams to get blown out.

Combination of the two + turnovers = blowout

We were in the game in the 1st half. While we were converting 3rd downs. Granted 3 of 7 vs their 6 of 7 isn't on the same mark, but we went in at half trailing 21 to 14. Could have went in trailing only by 4.

The game was a blowout because the offense did nothing in the 2nd half of the game. We had the ball a total of 9 minutes. Leaving the defense on the field for a total of 21 minutes. In all honesty, that 1 3rd down we did convert was trash. It happened seconds before the game was over. 6 drives, and zero points equals a beat down.

What i am stating is not that we should have won the game, but even though FSU was converting 3rd downs at a higher rate. We could have easily still been in the game at the very end. They were converting 90% of their 3rd downs in the 1st half to our 40%, and we trailed by 7 at half. Should have been 4.

So imo, no the 11 of 15 3rd downs that our defense gave up didn't equal the blowout. We could have been in that game till the end.

To further illustrate the s.hit our defense has been eating, I give you the following:

Here is our midway report 4 Games in the ACC this year versus 4 Games in the ACC Last Year

2012: UNC, FSU, GT and NCState

Our Defense was on the field: 31.8 Minutes Per Game
Our Offense had 5 Turnovers

v.

2013: UNC, FSU, GT and WF

Our Defense has been on the field 34.2 Minutes Per Game
Our Offense has 10 Turnovers

This is what greatly perplexes me, why aren't people upset with the offense. In no way is the offense helping. 10 FU.CKING TURNOVERS. 10 FU.CKING TURNOVERS.
