Just listed Ball St Tix

All of that sounds great, but the fact is that almost 58,000 tickets were sold vs. FAMU. How many of those remaining tickets does UM control? So, while I like your idea, the school isn't necessarily in a position to "give away" that remainder.
FAMU I thought was better than expected. And you are correct, my idea is completely premised on who holds the rest of those tickets. Obviously if they are already purchased or in a season ticket pass and someone tries to sell them on stubhub and no one buys them its SOL, nothing anyone can do at that point.

It has to be the school doing it or bring in some completely new system for people who have tickets. I have had season tickets and sometimes cant make it to a game. I would much rather my ticket go to someone who wants it but maybe c ant afford it, or maybe just doesnt want to spend the money instead of going into the stubhub ethos. Something like where a season ticket holder can "opt in" to give away the tickets for free if they are not sold on stubhub at least an hour before kickoff. Then you may get some people waiting at the stadium for the freebies. not ideal but IMO better than no one using the ticket.

This is a tale old as time. We’re not going to pack the house for ****** opponents. Going to a game is an ordeal. Traffic, parking costs, ridiculous refreshment prices are real road blocks. Also the game experience itself is getting worse, the TV time outs are out of control. This last game was almost 2.5 hours in and was still mid 3rd quarter. For a casual fan it’s just not worth it when they can sit home in comfort and watch what else is going on in the CFB world or do something else entirely.

Yes and no - going to a 90 min movie nowadays for four is $100 if you get tickets drinks and snacks.

I’m hoping for a good crowd but knowing this market I’m expecting an attendance disaster. Which is a shame. No Sunday Dolphin game in theory should help but I can see this one being passed over by a lot of the season ticket holders
Then why even have season tickets? Best team in 20 years and you're just gonna no show for a sure win? Must be nice to have more money than you know what to do with.

I live in SC and have season tickets to support the program. Of course I can't make it to them all, only one or two a season actually, so I sell them for way less than I spend. Sometimes they aren't sold. Sometimes they're donated to vet tix.
There are very real reasons for folks with season tickets not to make it.

the barrier to entry is much much lower for a movie. It’s just easier and more pleasant of an experience for the average person to get in/out and that’s before the $ part. Are there big time football teams where a family of 4 can attend for $100 with refreshments? My flat bread pizza and souvenir soda cup at Hard Rock was like $29 last year.

Well yea living out of state is a valid excuse. I'm talking about the people in Kendall or Pembroke Pines who are lost like meh I'd rather go to the mall

A couple things:

1) Being in the ACC is a big problem for attendance. So was being in the Big East. Look at USC's home schedule now since joining the BIG10:

Utah State
Wisconsin
Penn State
Rutgers
Nebraska
Notre Dame

Those are exciting games to go to.

FAMU
Ball State
VT
FSU
Duke
Wake

I mean, that is a massive drop off. You need to be a 9+ win team to have any hope to get people in the stands for that schedule.

2) Miami claims to have 35,000+ season tickets sold. Add in a couple thousand for the student section. That's like 60% of the stadium being filled by default. But that's not what happens. The lower bowl has TONS of empty seats at these games. The participation rate for season ticket holders must be abysmal. They announced 58,000 tickets sold for FAMU and there was probably 40K in attendance. This was midway through the 2nd quarter:

Honestly, if that stadium was 75% full, not announced attendance but actual attendance, for ACC games I would be thrilled.

FAMU was a great crowd for FAMU but a 6 pm start helped coming off the UF win. it was stated as 57k and it was really good in person imo. 330 is gonna be tough as it was brutally hot tailgating at 3 last weekend.
