Just beat Pitt....

This team isn't tough. Bunch of ***** azzes. We haven't had a "tough" team in a long time.

Agreed with notSince85 in that the Pitt game is a huge metric for our season. Coming in I felt that a 10 win season was THE metric. If we beat Pitt and win our mediocre bowl game we will be a 10 win team.

Back in the days of an 11 game regular season and no conference title games, the old adage was: "10 wins gets you a top ten finish." That may not be the case but 10 wins still gets you a top 15-20 finish. It would be nice to finish the season ranked.

Yes, it would. Randy had the Wisconsin game to give him a 10 win season and a possible top 10 ranking, and a lot of momentum heading into 2010, and we all know how that ended. We need this game. Golden needs this game.

Bull ****. We didn't have the talent to beat Duke, how the **** we gonna beat Pitt? Or so all the Dorito slurpers have said.
 
1. Their stud DT will rock McDermott all day and snuff out the run game.
2. Alot of possessions will go nowhere because they don't trust Morris in that type of weather. Pitt will adjust to load the box and we won't consistently hit WRs to get them out.
3. WRs will have a couple big plays but overall not consistent and a few drops.
4. Savage will take advantage of no pass rush and a depleted secondary. Prolly something around 23/33 317.
5. We will do ok vs. the run to start but they will wear us down and after we get behind, it will be painfully clear they just don't want to be there ala the Sun Bowl and we will start getting gashed in the freezing temps.
6. Pitt wins, 34-23.
7. Golden says this proves they need to get bigger and stronger even though we have spent 2 years trying to do that without getting anything from it except a loss of speed.
8. Golden will emphasize progress from last year (7 to 8 wins, lol).
9. Miami will spend New Years Eve in El Paso. Chick will send a tweet during the bowl week saying "I waited 3 years for THIS? Smdh". They will look for the heaters again and get ripped a new one by Kadeem Carey and BJ Denker. ****Rod will use the beatdown to get another raise from Arizona.

Maybe number 6 (hopefully) and 9 are far fetched....but ****. That's ******* accurate.
 
I just want to see this team play for 4 quarters on our last game of the year. This is something we have all been waiting to see from this team and it is something I want to see.

I am officially tired of the word "process", which has become synonymous with "interim worst case results"..
 
I appreciate the hopes and dreams to a 10 win season but I don't see us going to Pitt, in freezing weather and competing to win. I think this team will quit after halftime and will want to get the bleep out of there. It may get ugly.
 
I think Al knows that this game is the difference between him having a peaceful offseason and him having to answer ALOT of questions about WTF happen the last 6 games of the season. (Assuming we lose the bowl game we could be staring at a 1-5 record the last 6 games of the year!!) Even he would know that is unacceptable and the excuses would not be acceptable. Beating PITT is huge. Beating PITT and winning the bowl game would be huger! As fans, we should be able to live with a 3 games swing from last year to this year.

Honestly, the fact that we would hang our hat on a win vs a team that is 0-7 in conference play tells you just how low expectations have become. Until excellence is expected, mediocrity will remain.

They beat Duke, but struggled to beat Old Dominion. They beat ODU 35-24 in a game that Pitt led by only 4 in the 4th and ODU was up 10-0 at one point. Why bring this up? ODU lost to UNC 80-20 yesterday and UNC could have scored 100 but didn't try to score in the 4th. They also lost to Navy. They're mediocre and inconsistent at best.

We have more talent than this team, but I have little confidence we win, which is even more maddening.

Honestly Pitt is a big deal. I'm fairly certain the bowl will be a loss, possibly a blowout depending on the opponent, so finishing the reg season at 9-3 which is what many thought should be the minimum achievement for the year needs to be accomplished, considering the 10-2 hope and Coastal are gone.

If they don't beat Pitt, we will finish 8-5 and unranked after the bowl which considering where we were a few weeks ago, it would be hard to spin this year as anything other than an abject failure.
