It was a promotion AND a better path to get back to Miami as head coach. Nobody in their right mind would stay and work for Al Golden when you have the same opportunity to get a promotion AND work for the GOAT head coach.

He saw it as a stepping stone for his career to help him eventually get to his ultimate goal. He was right because he has achieved his dream.

It's not even a relatively similar comparison.

Dabo and Lanning, yes. I don’t see Kiffin as a fit, despite his being OC there. DeBoer have any $EC connections?

I can see Bama interested in Mario but highly doubt he’s be interested. Politely, no thank you.

DC Glenn Schumann of UGA’s staff? I would expect Bama would shoot for a high profile HC though. Trouble is, who wants to follow Saban?

Think when it’s all said and done that will be the big feather in the cap for Saban. He did a 180 on offensive philosophy and extended their dynasty. Most coaches wouldn’t be able to pull that off. It appears that maybe Mario took note of that move himself.

Mario will probably get a phone call, but I don’t expect it to be picked up. I have Kiffin as an option cause of connections, SEC experience, and Alabama is in need of offensive change. I put DeBoer cause of Washington’s success, and Alabama has interest in that offensive scheme (Ryan Grubb interview). Lanning seems like the obvious choice to me tho; he is young, fiery, good scheme, and willing to adapt.

Were talking over a decade of top 3 (mostly number one) recruiting classes.
Saban went scorched earth on that campus and went full Saudi Prince mode.
No expense was spared. From nutrition to motivational speakers. Ipf, football only facility and dining.
Dude has had Kobe, David Goggins and others to speak to the team.
And yet they’ve looked like crap in all 3 phases this year.

I suspect a huge turnover in both roster and coaching coming because if not, it’s gonna be painful in tuskkaloosa.

Don’t know if Julian wants be part of a possible sht show or a possible rebuild. But regardless, something has to happen over there.

And there is always the possibility that Saban might be in Jupiter island sooner rather than later. I don’t know too many coaches that can just take those Keyes and drive it the same way Saban has.

It's beautiful, very poetic. Watching Saban's empire begin to crumble is thoroughly satisfying. Couldn't happen to a better group of scumbags. **** 'em Hopefully the wheels fall completely off, Saban retires, and they fade back into obscurity.

Beat me to it.. Mike Elko is gonna be the hottest name on the board after this season.

Could see Norvell and Bama if it opened this year. Lot of team to replace at FSU and they’re gonna peak. Good time to jump if he ever wants to.

Other than that, Deboer, Kane Wommack at South Alabama (probably too under the radar for them but he’s a stud), Sark, Jonathan Smith, Lanning, maybe even Mark Stoops.

That’s probably their board of candidates.

DeBoer is a really good coach, problem for him at Bama is that the closest he’s been to coaching in the Bible Belt was 1 year at Indiana lmao. Would be a Brian Kelly type hire in terms of geographical shift.
