Law of unintended consequences -- and particularly unfortunate since the post-Covid recruits didn't get a bonus year of high school eligibility to match the guys in college. So they're getting the short end of the stick twice.

1 year after Covid. High school Covid players…no camps or game film as everything was canceled.

They now play with kids that just won’t leave so they remain buried and burning eligibility. Wonderful watching players walk on Senior Day THREE times. Remember too that many of these people being given extra years also played during COVID it was moved to Spring.

The portal has made it worse for these kids.
 
Just to be clear this isnt true yet. Pavia got it but there is no rule put in place for everyone yet.

If they are smart they dont let this happen or you will have a bunch of 25-28 year old college athletes.

At this point the NFL needs to start a minor league system for 18-20 year olds. They have plent of money to pay them decent salaries and making a training ground like MLB uses. Play 4-6 games per season but just train the rest of the time. Once you turn 20 you are eligible for the draft.

Don’t think so. I believe their claim was treating JUCO like Prep School since they play each other. Guess Prep doesn’t start the clock.
 
So now Miami could place a recruit with questionable grade in a JUCO, have him play a season, and then transfer in without losing a year of eligibility? No different than when we used to place such players in military prep schools?

No, prep doesn’t start the clock, but will be insane if ruling is deemed applying to all JUCO players. College sports is now the ultimate **** show.

I think it will apply to all JUCO

Some Attorney taking case for FSU player now

6-7 years is too much & NCAA should just do 5 years with No Redshirts

That's always been my thought, 5 period. No more McCormick BS etc. Injuries blah blah. Just get 5 enrolled years

Yup, some kids get lost in the wash trying to fake it through school. A small two round draft that all teams are able to draft and stash said players on their practice squad or likely said form a small league that plays a few games

Technically, correct. However, much like the BOI case in which the appellate court (in first case) held that the law's unconstitutionality only applied to Plaintiff or members of the same org. and then another person sued and that court ruled that it applied to all LLC members, it is almost a certainty that the logic of this ruling will apply to all players. This is also a magistrate's ruling so there is that little disclaimer. But:

"No sir, the die is cast..."
