JUCO WR Shemar Kirk commits to Miami

They’re talking about practices. Drills. Workouts. Nobody knows you better than your peers. Obviously he hasn’t done anything in games. The dudes talking on the podcasts are getting info from the players. They see him everyday and are like “ehhhhh….buddy might not be it.”
Fair. Figured we never hear D or anyone in the know mention him here so 🤷🏼‍♂️

Dawson/Beard really tightened the receiver rotation last year too. Not sure if that was by necessity or design but our top 3 guys got a vast majority of the snaps. Anyone who isn't in the top 5 is likely not going to play outside of blowouts.
A top 6 should be adequate, especially if Dawson actually utilized the TE in the passing game.

If Kirk is getting serious time, that means that X, George, and Ray Ray are hurt. That means that Carr and Trader aren't as good as advertised.

If Kirk is playing outside of mop up duty, we have problems.

Not everyone is going to contribute. It's just math.

absolutely.

no way he could possibly dedicate himself, be coached up, and get better. that's not how it works.

when he didn't catch at least, say, 20 passes last year in the first 3 games, we all knew he wasn't a player

Call it right now:

1) Assuming the health of the players I named, how many games does he start?
2) How many targets per game?
3) How many catches, yards, and touchdowns.

ngl, I saw this thread bumped and was like, okay then, he's finally hitting the portal.

Let's be honest. Kirk was a desperation take because we took too long to get rid of Gattis and land Dawson. Worth the risk because no one knew if George would step up and Kirk at least kept him on his toes. But he's never seeing meaningful snaps here if we're recruiting the position correctly. I'd 100% play Trader or Robinson over Kirk at this point.

Ya but that explanation is a little more than "math"

That explanation leaves out the possibility the kid may be good enough to hold off a couple frosh…I have no idea, he may not be…And I agree everyone won't be a contributor, but with your explanation, it is implying that isn't just numbers, it's this kid isn't good enough.

Anyone else get mentioned of note? Typically, if a guy can't play, he gets sniffed out pretty easily by teammates and it's a pretty accurate predictor.

We’ve had superstars on greentree that didn’t do squat on game day.
Been too disappointed by greentree all Americans and blue chippers that fold.
I don’t remember anyone talking about AR82 like he was going to break out like a superstar before the season started.
Let’s wait for the real games before we crown or dismiss anyone.

That’s 1 more snap than Luis Cristobal should’ve gotten.

Makes sense. Seems like Kirk & Redding are the low hanging fruit of guys who can be casualties to the portal.
Michael Redding is a fine young man and a great representative of the University and program but realistically he will never play a meaningful down here. I believe he is graduating soon if he hasn't already. Shemar Kirk has ability but he needs to make a huge move this spring or risk getting locked outside looking in.

As has been stated, this is one of the effects of having Trader and Carr here for Spring with Robinson following soon after. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the middle of the WR depth chart which is a great thing as this type of fierce competition brings out the very best in the best players and the cream rises to the top. It seems that Jojo Trader has already begun to make his presence felt with Cam Ward singling him out as being one of 3 WRs who he is already building chemistry with.

We don’t roll like that here on CIS.
