Don’t know why we are even talking about this, Sonnone told us that FSU was his other option and he almost flipped on signing day.
Sonnone is a WOAT FSU beat writer and we were told by Hayes Fawcett that JSmith asked him to create a Miami commitment edit the night before signing day.

He never seriously considered FSU.
I mean, clearly sarcasm doesn’t translate through message boards. All of the fsu writers who have been fooled repeatedly by their sources were convinced that smith was going there. The truth was he was never considering them, but strongly considered us. And if he had committed to us, we would have heard how their wr commits were better culture fits for their team

We had a new secondary, db coach and a Broyle's Award candidate coaching last year. How'd that work?
well I believe anyone with eyes realizes the biggest issue was the playcaller - and that did not change last offseason

we also lost two NFL safeties, 2 nfl corners, and jaden davis and replaced them with dyoni hill (marshall), savion riley (vandy), etc.

this year we replaced the playcaller and we are bringing in heavily sought after DB's that are proven in the portal

not saying it's 100% fixed but it's disingenuous to say the staff hasn't fixed it (or believed that they fixed it) to this point

I'm stuck in the "glass half empty" point of view. We've been down this road too many times the last 20 years only to be disappointed.

I understand what you're saying and appreciate the fact that Mario identifies and attempts to fix issues that pop up.

On paper, I'm optimistic about the off season moves we've made. I'll be sold when I see the results.

i think that's fair.

I too get sucked into the "we've sucked forever" wave and makes me feel hard to be optimistic sometimes. Overall, I have big worries about next season, particularly because the schedule is harder and I wonder if Beck can treat it like a job rather than a paid vacation.

but we're not the cowboys, who have sucked forever due to one man, and that one man is still there. Dan R, Cristobal, new DC, Dawson, whole new football administration, new university president, etc.

We may suck and not reach our goals because most teams don't, but it won't have anything to do with the past as there's no correlation to the past and everything is different

Looks like all the WR's stayed at OSU and by all accounts didn't chase the money being thrown at them. This was foreshadowed by Smith durning spring practices when asked if he was going to start as a true freshman. Paraphrasing he said "why do I get to start, if Marvin Harrison didn't play as a freshman" Unfortunately, OSU has 5 stars that didn't see the field for a single snap in the room and had a 6.5, number 1 receiver in Henry Jr. Committed for next cycle.
