Mario didnt purposely take a long time because of indecision

He was working through his contingency plans, Gattis was not one of his top 3 options
Jesus, i know 2 probably weren't coming no matter how much money was offered but if you're throwing out $1.8 mil a year you should be able to get **** near anyone you want (if they want to be a college OC).

I mean it didn’t help that TVD was a one read guy either. He would miss a lot of open dudes but Gattis is still way too rigid. I’m hoping what Ghandi said is a joke.
I've been waiting to say much about gattis but honestly listening to all the Interviews towards the end of the season it seemed like all the blame was being put on the roster. Yeah there was that one comment Mario made on his show about the things not working there but I donk think that was coach aimed more than at the roster not being able to adapt. Idk haha there's no way you field a historically bad offense with no change at all and that's what I'm sitting on but idk I could also see them running it back with more of "their" guys

I’m back to having that baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad feeling as to the baaaaaaaaaad feeling I had yesterday.

Gattis gonna be on the staph next year sure as I’m farting to get my feeling down a couple a’s.

That’s the part that troubles me, if Gattis was a lower tier option, and he was disgruntled at Michigan, why pay $1.8mm???

Unless $1.8mm is an inflated number

Also was alarming how none of the qbs ever seemed to know where the check down was.

Unless they were on the sidelines where they spent most of their time staring I doubt they had a clue where to look…

I want Gattis gone but I could reasonably see Mario sitting back, seeing the same offense has Michigan in the playoff back to back years and thinking about how the players he inherited were dumb/lazy/not (not saying I completely agree) a fit and Gattis gets a pass for this year. Mario did keep saying he needs his guys and roster would be rolled over this offseason.

Maybe he thinks with better/smarter players what Gattis wants to do will work, combined with the fact his star QB was hurt most of the year.

I respect the work of these insiders when it comes to being connected to recruiting but every insider on here was batting .000 with coaching hires and decisions last year and I expect much of the same this year. It’s just how Mario handles things.

So how about we all agree to debate on who we should go after, what we think will happen, etc. but the literal dozens of posters who make cryptic and broad non-confirmable statements of things to come like they know what the **** is going on is so idiotic and a waste of everyone’s time
I got roasted for the Charlie strong information on here before we even hired Mario. It is what it is though.

A good coach uses the talent he has to make the best product he can. Every roster has weaknesses, so you have to identify them and work around them. He couldn't do that to save his **** life. I get it, he wants to run one **** thing a certain way. If you don't have the talent to do that, you adapt to the talent you do have until you get the talent you need. That is a huge concern for me.

I'm down with all of that completely.

Still, it's very rare that coaches adapt a whole lot. They're married to the vision they have and will tinker with it, but not change much about it.

Meyer, in his prime, was literally the best at working with what he's got and adapting an offense to suit them. He changed things yearly and was in a class of his own at the time.

This past season, we had the opposite. I'd estimate they got 25 percent of what the players are capable out of them. Certainly no higher than 50 percent. That's criminal at their pay grade.
