Y’all/We may not like it, but it is entirely possible that Gattis performs much better in year 2…

Unlike many people here, I Hope that happens if he actually is retained
I mean I’m not going to actively root against Gattis, you’re not a fan of the program if you do that. That would be some weird, personal vendetta.

But fans have every right to be absolutely ****ed if he’s retained. Nothing positive has come from his tenure here.

Don’t hire former players as coaches and don’t replace your departing head coach with an assistant on staff. Where would we be if we lived by those common sense rules since Butch left…
They wouldn't pay Butch $3 million, after the Miraculous job he did by the end of 2000 with virtually no help from the administration, no Booster financial help, & constant penny pinching, but give Mario $8 million for 10yrs with a Brinks truck at his disposal....Makes sense.

Totally different people. The they isn’t the same

Because he's Mario, bro. To me he will be Big Manny until he proves otherwise.

We should have opened the **** bank for Butch. Had we done that we wouldn't be in this situation. We would have never fallen off the face of the college football planet. We went cheap and it cost us two decades of relevance.

And??....Totally different people??..do you think I don't know that??...One wipes his *** with the other.
And you were commenting as if trend is all I meant and it’s not like it’s blake James and Blake James.

He didn’t earn the opportunity for another chance.

It’s one thing to be bad on offense. However, what we saw was WAY beyond that. When the predictable run plays got stuffed, this dude had NOTHING. Just He was in full panic mode and constantly abandoned stuff that worked well for us.

We saw the acrobatic catches Colbie makes. How many jump balls did we throw him in the end zone? Some of our easiest touchdowns were rpo and we abandoned it when it mattered most. No clue of what to call from a numbers and alignment perspective. He was awful and made the personnel look much worse than they are.

I caped for this dude early. He got worse over time. We aren’t going to improve the offensive line enough to cover his deficiencies. Even with a top 5 roster, he will get exposed by the other elite teams. There is no upside to keeping him.

I don’t think he has the personality to endure and overcome the toxicity he has created here. He is young and will probably get better, but it won’t get us where we want to go.

This is all well said and pretty much where I'm at.

I hate when people call for coaches heads way too early...And yes there were injuries. But still...I'm not sure UM can risk keeping him at this point, especially with how surly and arrogant he can be at times.

Wait why is Kevin smith gone? I feel like the issues at skill positions is really due to the oc and the style of offense

That they are. I love it when people say Ponce sucks or Smith sucks. The only way you'd know that is if you were there daily seeing them work. When it comes to game day, the OC determines what we see. How his players look is largely dependent on him. Even if you said they sucked at recruiting, how do you determine that? Would you play under Gattis?

People say dumb **** all the time to cope with this team losing. I watch this team and one thing stands out, Gattis sucks. We've got him because Mario hired him. We could have the best assistants in the world and we'd never know it.

Teams who convert from the triple option have better passing games than we did. What we saw can’t be chalked up to talent and injuries. You have to be in complete denial to try and believe that.

There was nothing going on from a roster perspective to justify why we were THAT bad. He’s got to go or Mario will have a really rough tenure here and it will be his own fault.
