John Franklin commits to FSU

We did learn a couple of things here, that are comical to myself. First and foremost we have heard all year how if FSU wanted AC they could just take him. Then the excuse was that they werent really pressing that hard for him because they already had R Green in the fold to go along with an already stacked backfield, plus Yearby in the fold next year. Now they offered and accepted the commit of one of his best friends, who may not really be a stud but isnt a scrub by any means. It must tell us a couple of things then. First and foremost Collins commitment to Miami was/is much stronger than has been reported. Two they look to be conceding Michel next year. They have as already stated Wilder(who is surprising at the position), Freeman, Pender, Green, and Yearby plus now a major threat for Collins. That is six guys there already, and anymore and you have a log jam there which may cause deficiencies elsewhere. This is gonna be interesting down the line, but this should be good news just as much as it is bad new for us.

Those package deals come together about 1% of the time, particularly when one of the kids is better suited for an FCS school. The Keith Brown situation was a bit different - you are talking about a kid's brother (or half brother if I recall correctly).

Still an easy decision for Collins. He gets 135+ carries here next year. For someone with the NFL directly in his sights, he should see what's best for him.

Agree, if Collins wants to be at UM great, we could use him, but we don't need his buddy right now.

I think he is capable. Not saying he will start but I would expect him to be heavy in the rotation.

Just to weigh in with a side bar regarding Collins, a kid who UM looked briefly at RB Corey Clement from NJ just committed to Wisky.

Truly a Battle between the Florida schools.

Canesport has an article up about Collins and the impact of Franklin on his commitment to FSU.

South Plantation coach says that he asked Collins if this commitment is going to impact you and Collins replied with something like:

No we're just friends. Just because it is good for him doesn't necessarily mean its good for me.

Gatewood (Coach) doesn't believe Collins commitment is any weaker or stronger since he committed and has always said he wanted to continue to be recruited by other schools.
