how would u compare both their TEAMS tho? dont follow highschool football all that much, but i do know yearby had cook with him in the backfield. Was duke the only threat on that norland team, that you were able to keep him in check? besides the two headed monster at rb dont central also have devante phillips? wouldnt it make more sense you can stop a guy, when hes basically the team, and you can focus all your efforts on him, while as central had atleast 3 players that could really hurt you?
agreeed when you say you cant compare the two, but just curious.
I posted later about that:
"I agree. Joe needs the ball. I think he was unfairly overshadowed by Cook -- and that was 100% a product of recruiting service hype. We were glad to see Cook in the game. We were actually more concerned with the 3rd string guy (the little dead head kid) than Cook.
Joe's feet are outstanding. It's almost looks fake in person. You're constantly in disbelief when watching him.
That being said. I was more impressed by Duke when he was at Norland. His offense wasn't as good though. Their blocking schemes were a joke. He created everything himself."
But to elaborate a bit, Central was very solid team schematically. They were really good at two plays. Thats says a lot. The coaching down here is really bad, to be frank. Central had their inside zone blocking schemes down. We were impressed. They were also able to play action that play with the bubble screen. They blocked great on the perimeter as well. Their other stuff sucked.
Norland just had Duke and Brandon Snell. Snell didn't hurt us because we had decent corners that year, and we had them bailing all game. Their blocking schemes were off. Like, always. We were able to fit right all the time. Only when we made a mental error, Duke would exploit us. The second game we played he had 80something yards rushing and he got 60ish of it on one carry. I don't want to bad mouth Coach Heidelberg or anything. He does a great job of keeping his kids on course. They were respectful and they played really hard.
