Don't know why "dudes getting raises" is such cause for skepticism in and of itself. I'd guess the majority of that ~2M delta is going to be spent on the OC and DC hires. If Mario brings some assistants over, perhaps some get pay bumps, maybe (but not necessarily) corresponding to bumps in title. But reality of the assistant coaching game is there's inflation in the salaries all across college football - similar to HCs, just not increasing at the same astronomical rate. Oregon would probably have to bump these guy's salaries just to keep them.

I'm assuming the extra 2M is going to a better DC and OC. Also, it takes a pay bump and sometimes additional titles to poach position coaches that are happy where they're at (think partridge telling Pitt to give him a bump or he is bolting to Miami).

Yes. I played at UNLV and have a lot of USO homies still and they are tight families, however they will send their kids far if they trust the coach will look out for them like family. They will send their sons to be coached up by him.

What? Joe is a legit top tier coach.

The problem is that a lot of our fans don't watch a **** thing west of the Mississippi, so they don't think there's quality out there. This guy is solid, well respected. You aren't going to have a team of all stars, you need **** good coaches, and Joe fits that bill. A **** good teacher that can recruit and will build the kind of culture that one would want on the DL.

This is true....BUT....being cultural and family based, the families will trust one of their own because they know he'll look after their kid. Hard to break into those family circles, but if you prove trustworthy, you're family for life. Coach has proven that he will take care of the Polynesian kids so he can pull kids that aren't even in his position group
