Joe Salave’a

Never said the DL coach would make or break the program, just that there's better out there than him. Recruitung wise, his history isn't elite on the D line either.

Just going off the resume and what I've seen from their DL back when Slick Willie brought him, his product is very sub par and unimpressive.

If Mario is bringing him in for other things (very likely he carries the AHC tag), cool. Im speaking strictly to his record as a position coach. He's never produced a dominant defensive line.

You're my guy tho, so what do you think (outside of the hire) ? In general, what is the metric for judging a DLine coach in your opinion ?
But answer his question. How do you know there’s better out there? What makes you reputable in making this decision? Heck, let’s see your resume and see what skills you have at evaluating coaching performance.

So without being announced we've deduced:

Salave'a - tagged in a tweet by a recruit & seen on campus
Mirabal - seen out recruiting with Cristobal
Smith - tagged in a tweet by a recruit
McClendon - seen on campus and seen on the Miami website

To be fair our HC search was odd, so I don't know why I was expecting our position coach search not to be. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
and Bobby Williams was tagged yesterday in an offer...

Shocking a coach is bringing most of his staff to his next gig. But we have people griping 247 that it hasn’t been announced lol. There’s always some drama for some of you guys.

I said on the CL show expect more Oregon staff members to come. Other than Oc, Dc and maybe a few more spots the Miami staff will be the former Oregon staff.

How many d-line coaches out there has had dominate d-lines? There isn’t many. This guy is a good coach. He had a 1st team all American at Washington st. And other all conference guys. Had 2 d-linemen make 1st team all pac-12 and his NT was honorable mention with oregon this season. He did a good job with jordon Scott who was a 3 from largo. And all these guys are 3 star players except Thibodeaux. No coaching staff is going to be filled with just big name guys no matter how much money you got

I mean not many more out there besides mastro, chance, and williams. So expect all of them to be added?

I'm fine with position coaches coming from Oregon, but he really needs to nail the OC and DC hires. Not being a huge Xs and Os guy means he needs to hire the best Xs and Os guys available. These two hires are critical to his success here.

Personally, I think he nails the hires, given the money we have to spend. It's not like he has to shop in the bargain bin.

Kevin Sullivan and the Family. Black Jack Mulligan, Dusty, Barry, Chief Wahoo McDaniel, Abdullah the Butcher, Bruiser Brody, The Junkyard Dog, Tony Atlas, Superstar Billy Graham, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, and a bunch of other great wrestlers. Those were the days.

Now wrestling sucks. 99% of the current crop of wrestlers have no personality, and try too hard. Once the Undertaker, Kane, The Rock and some other dudes called it quits, it went downhill fast.
Watch AEW... They do it right....

What did you think about Freddie Roach’s resume prior to Bama hiring him as DL coach? And Tray Scott at UGA?

Could we have found someone with a better “resume”? Maybe. But Mario seems to be going with someone that he’s seen first hand produce on the recruiting trail and also develop some SFL talent (Dorlus). My guess is Mario sees Joe as someone that can potentially land a big ugly with Polynesian ties while supporting Mario in recruiting the elite SFL talent. And the Polynesian ties go beyond DL. It’s LBs, it’s OL, etc.

It’s a pretty unique mix that you won’t find anywhere else. The upside with Joe is actually insane when you think about it.

I actually think we are underestimating how many guys will NOT be from his Oregon staff, including both coordinators. This isn't a situation where a HC got a major promotion from a FCS program or non-major. An incredibly well-funded Mario built a staff at Nike-funded Oregon, where he won 12 games, the Rose Bowl and 2 Pac-12 titles. You'd expect him to bring almost all of them where he could.

He's cherry-picking Oregon, and finding the best guys that are RIGHT for Miami. Love it.

Seriously, which rapper is he going after there?
That was Fall from the Kamikaze album... He just kinda goes after everyone on that album... Mainly the media for blasting him so hard for the Revival album...

It all hinges on OC and DC. My only concern is this. Why, with all that money behind him at Oregon, did he not have a better OC and DC? I was not impressed with either. The positional coaches seem good, but the coordinators, where it counts most, were not.

That being said, I think he knows what he has to do at Miami. He needs to nail these hires. We saw what the O could do with TVD and Lashlee, so I just can't imagine him saying, "Yeah, I don't want to do that here."

Well, Oregon is actually not a top tier program when it comes to paying staff. They pay well, but not like what we're paying now.

Secondly, in three seasons he won 12 games, won a Rose Bowl, went to a Fiesta Bowl IIRC, played in the Pac-12 CG all three times, and had Oregon in the hunt for the CFB playoff. Keep in mind, he took over a program that had won 4 and 6 games the previous two years, and had a losing record in the Pac-12 in both seasons. People seem to think he took over a team in good shape or something. He turned them around immediately and was still building. So let's respect what he built WITH the coordinators that he chose for Oregon, regardless if you were impressed or not.

I agree he needs to nail the hires. And I am sure he will. Frankly, the longer it takes the better off we are IMO. I think he knows who is coming. And I think they are still coaching right now because they are coaching at winning programs or in the NFL. He's big game hunting IMO.

Never doubt people’s ability to find **** to complain about.

Oregon will spend on facilities but not coaches it’s obvious.

Let’s picture Joe and Mario in a tag team match against Manny and Jess S.

Wrestling, recruiting, life.

We know who wins that match 100 times over.
