You do realize that Bama was recruiting McFarland as a slot back similar to how Ufa wants/tries to use Powell

The staff has been going hard at both. Its certainly not optimal if they dont come, but its hard to call it a massive failure. Jeudy especially was never even recruited by Golden and was considered a Bama lock. Shorter term we may lose more than we get vs. Bama, but that "tide" will change soon. Many of our previous coaches wouldnt even have tried to compete with the $EC.

I don't fully agree...Smith is a great player and we are rightfully in the game for him, if we lose him we chalk it up as an L that Richt had a great chance at and didn't capitalize. Jeudy on the otherhand...not only is he similar to Tyler Byrd (has a boyfriend playing for our recruiting competition), but while Bama was dropping money bags off to Jeudy his Sophomore year...Miami didn't even initiate contact until Richt got there...we were tremendously behind schedule on his recruitment and the fact that he is from South Florida doesn't really matter, because it was an uphill battle from the get go.
 
It doesn't matter how close or far a recruit is from the school. Golden never recruited dude. Hard to bridge that gap. Not too stressed about these WR. We always have good ones. Would be great to have someone else to take pressure of AR.

WR recruiting continues to be worrisome.
A lot of uncertainty and a lot of "we hope" going on right now.
