Jimbo calls out Miami

Hes smart he knows miami is done n cant recruit at the elite level, he knows that if changes arent made up top president wise they will bury us. What fsu is about to do is going to be epic, they will win multiple titles catch miami n send the most players to the league. Every fan thinks its the coaches, i for one have opened my eyes n know its the higher ups. Jimbo knows this n this program is making it easy for them.

Bobby should have seen the handwriting when the boosters engineered the firing of his son who was,as I recall, offensive coordinator. That's why I hate nepotism, which is really the Golden-D'Onofrio relationship. I would like to give D'Onofrio a little more time to try to get his act together with better athletes, because God knows, our talent on defense was downright mediocre.

FSU, like most big state universities, has all kinds of assets and resources underpinning the program. They have a stadium, a huge number of boosters compared to UM, all kinds of dumb majors in which to stash the dumb players, and so on.

I'm the one who keeps posting about how we've done better with the lower profile recruits, but that is because had a team culture that emphasized working harder and refusing to lose. That kind of thing was instilled by Schnelly and Jimmy. We don't have that mentality in the team anymore. Somehow, we lost the chips on our shoulders and don't play like winners anymore. Back in the day, our kids refused to lose. It was out of the question. I don't know how you get it back but I'm not sure we can with the present staff.

After we lost to FSU in 1989, our only loss that year, Bobby Bowden apparently said something that ****ed Dennis Erickson off no end. Reportedly, Dennis said he was going to kick FSU's *** from one end of the Orange Bowl to the other--and we did. We seem to have lost that anger. We need to get it back.

U need to accept that recruiting has changed n evolved, that is whats hurt miami. All other schools know whos down here, back in the day they didnt.

FSU has a far superior program to us. They draft better, develop better, coach better, have better facilites, and a more supportive admin.

Any argument that Jimbo is less of a coach than the Clouded One is laughable. I hate FSU. But as of today, they are outclassing us in every aspect of big program college football.

Fisher owns us. He can say whatever he wants. Hope our 2015 Head Coach turns the tide, because his Cloudedness and his royal Cloudedness jester d-coordinator are going to give us-at best- a 7 win 2014.

Fisher turned their program around. Brian Kelly turned his program around. Sumlin turned Houston and A&M's programs around. Saban turned his program around. Malzahn turned his program around. All inherited **** teams and **** records. All recruited, developed, and had the wherewithal to start freshman QB's over less talented, but safer upperclassmen.

Absolutely NO way Golden allows Olsen or Kayaa to play immediately. Ryan Williams is the safe, conservative choice. And that is how the Clouded one will go.

Disgusting.

All the coaches you named have 1 thing in common, there school admins want to win at all costs. U have 2 wonder y no one wanted to coachh ere in 2010.

Too bad people were calling him Dumbo two years ago.

Oh the revisionist history.

If u followed recruitin in 2009 n so on, u could see fsu was building a monster. I knew they would win eventually, the way they recruit sfla is the way we r suppose 2 recruit it. He took over when they suked n no one wanted 2 go there, the admin got tired of bowden nfocused on win at all costs. We wont b back especially while we r being watched. Get used toi t

what was the context around Jimbo's statement?
Why is he thinking and talking about Miami? He wasn't even around when we were spanking them.

Because he's a prick and is laughing at us because we're stuck with Alfred for forever and he knows he can recruit and take whoever he wants and likes hyping up his fanbase who have hard ons for all things Miami and Florida

Golden's to busy finishing the endless chocolate fountain at the Golden Corral.

The only response that matters is winning the game. IMO
I could care less if we respond in any other way.

Noles will forever have the twitch or tick in their eye. We hurt them too many times. They would have 7 or 8 NCs if it weren't for the damned Canes.

I was involved with the coaching search. I represent several of the more prominent FSU boosters. I know exactly how that program operated. You are a clueless troll. Bobby had zero control over Jimbo. Jimbo picked the recruits, managed the practices, and handled game day. Bobby didn't even know the names of half of his players. Jimbo and his agent were adamant about having control over the direction of the program while he was the coach in waiting. I love Bobby personally, but he was on honorary status at that point.

clueless troll?

let me get this straight "you were involved with the coaching search"... what search is there? jimbo was named head coach in waiting. there was never any question who the next hc was going to be. you will find no one to back up your story. nice try, bud, but I think we all know this is simply not true.

Kid, stay out of the big boys' conversations. Jimbo did not all of sudden one day pop up in Tallahassee and submit an application to be the HCIW.

can't handle the facts, so he tries to belittle me. classic overcompensation for a weak argument filled with holes and lies.

I suggest you read this before you mud up this thread anymore.

I was young once. I remember what it was like to think I knew everything. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are a Canes fan and provide you some history.

As early as 2003, two of the biggest FSU donors were pushing to get Bobby out. I did not represent them but I knew them very, very well -- I spent many years in Tallahassee. Everyone else who mattered, however, were die hard supporters, including the President of the University to the President of the Boosters.

Even as the FSU slide continued, there was no real call to fire Bowden. The President and the Boosters thought Bobby would graciously exit after a successful season. Charlie Barnes was the President of the Boosters at the time and a huge Bowden guy, as were all of his influential Pike fraternity brothers. People don't understand how powerful the FSU Pike alum network is in Tallahassee, but sufficed to say it permeates every inch of that school, town, and the Legislature. And most of those guys came through FSU as Pikes when Bowden was a god. So, it was **** near impossible to get any traction to forcibly remove Bowden, especially with Wetherall running the show.

But, as you know, things continued to go south. After getting rammed in the *** by Miami for 5 years, Urban took the baton and continued to run a train on FSU. The donations continued a precipitous drop. Consequently, the Boosters felt the heat. This lead to a groundswell of support to replace Bowden, now led by the Boosters. I won't say who, but a few of Bowden's closest confidants approached him to gauge his plans. He was absolutely noncommittal about retiring and continued to operate under the (false) presumption that TK had given him a lifetime contract. Once it was clear that he would not bow out on his own, a plan was set in motion to recruit the next head coach through back channels.

I have direct knowledge of this entire process, though I was not privy to all the details. But, essentially, all two options were on the table: (1) fire Bowden and replace him with a big, big name; or, (2) entice a major coaching prospect to come on board as a coach in waiting. FSU sent out feelers to MAJOR active head coaches to gauge their interest. I was told some of the biggest names in football were interested (I was not told who). But almost everyone of those candidates, to a man, balked at the idea of pulling a Jimmy Johnson and replacing a legend after being fired. One agent told me the general rationale was that such a scenario set up the new coach for failure. The backlash to firing Bowden would have been huge locally. So, his replacement would be expected to markedly improve the team's success in a very short otherwise the move would backfire and heads would roll. And he was right.

Thus, everyone agreed the only way to accomplish their goal (get some finality as to when Bowden would be out) and protect their own jobs was to go the coach-in waiting route. Enter Jimbo Fisher.

The negotiations with Jimbo were complex, long, and very confidential. Jimbo knew he was primed to make the jump to a major, major program within two years. But, he LOVED the CIW proposal -- as did the Boosters eventually -- for two reasons. First, it created room/time for FSU to make it appear as if Bowden signed off on the deal and was willingly leaving after his two year tour. Trust me, they did not do Bobby right during this process. He was not fully apprised of the details. Second, it allowed Jimbo to put his system in place while Bowden was ostensibly in control. If FSU continued in mediocrity during those two years, the blame would not fall on Jimbo. To the contrary, it would provide further support for Bowden's retirement. And that's exactly what happened.

The two year window was not arbitrary. It was thoroughly considered and Jimbo believed that it would take two years to set up his system and change the recruiting to make it consistent with that system. That is why Jimbo had a provision in his contact that entitled him to a lump sum payment of $5MM if he was not the head coach after two years. (That was another slick move by the Boosters -- they knew that if all else failed, the school could fall back on the $5MM obligation as a practical reason requiring Bowden's outster.)

Only two hiccups with the plan. First, Bowden dug his heels in and became increasingly offended by the notion he was being forced out. Second, Jimbo was basically provided complete control. And Bowden's old guard did not like that. While Jimbo could not fire Bowden's coaches (about his only limitation), they knew they had to ultimately listen to Jimbo (and they also knew that Jimbo would soon replace them). Towards the end, it just got ugly between the coaches.

All of this is fact. I've known Bowden for many years. He's a great man. But once Jimbo stepped foot on that campus, he was not in charge of that program. Anyone who thinks Jimbo started from scratch four years ago is simply uninformed. I am not.
the above might be the most epic ***** slap I've seen around here in a long time. Well done dycane. Lmao at theoriginalcanefan, ironically with an unoriginal name

Hate FSU with a passion but never got our fans attitude towards Jimbo. That dude kicks our *** every time we play against him. A Jimbo led offense is averaging 35+ against us. He has also killed us in our backyard in recruiting. He has his faults but beating Miami isn't one of them.

I just can't stand the fact that people think the dude is the Messiah. He's proven, no doubt, to be a great coach. But it took him 6 years. He had some major issues both in terms of management and schematically that he's worked out over the last few years. His offense has evolved significantly from the days when he called a bubble screen every other play. And surprisingly, he's learned quickly how to deal with his staff. I think the mass exodus was a wake up call to him. Just like Saban, the guy had to endure a learning curve before he had his team playing at an elite level. Sh*t, take a look at Saban's career at MSU. He had some very bad losses and his teams were generally mediocre. I would say the same thing for Al except he's distinguished himself by hiring his best friend, which was not smart in retrospect. Hope he, like, Jimbo, recognizes his biggest flaw and corrects it if necessary.

He did not say Golden gave us problems, he said Miami. Do not make this about Golden. This was a poor attempt by our little step brothers to the north to try and make themselves believe they are in the same category as us. Really? You call out a 9 win team after you win the championship? Act like you've been there before, shut your mouth and learn how to kick field goals. A Dynasty Never Dies!

Everyone chiming in about Golden should be kicked off this site. If any thread should pull us all together it should be this one.

We still have 5 B^tches......maybe deon will come back and make another rap video.

little brother? sounds like we're the little brothers. they just won a championship. they've won 3 ships in the last 20 years. we've won 1. we're holding onto 4 rings that happened when george bush #1 was in office. we've lost 7 out of the last 9 to them. as far as I'm concerned, we're the little brothers now.

Lol a Miami fan succumbing to FSU... pathetic

I dont think the mass exodus was a result of anything more than jimbo evolving FSU was going nowhere with the first staff he assembled full of recruiters and nothing more with the exception being Haggins and Stoops…Coley Gran etc were needed to bring talent in quickly but their coaching was never going to yield big results…Now you have Jimbo who hires about as well as anyone and can recruit against anyone with an admin and booster support staff willing to give him anything with an established program. Golden needs a win over Jimbo point blank period and needs to make better hires the market place doesnt suggest you need to over spend for good coaches

The thing is, every program in Florida (Miami, FSU and UF) have had their time to shine. Miami controlled the 80's into the early 90's, where FSU took over for a brief hiatus. Florida battled with them while we were navigated through the probation era w/Butch. Then UF took a back seat to FSU when they captured another national title in '99 while Miami was starting to show flashes of brilliance which then took form in the early part of the 2000's where we saw arguably the greatest collection of talent that would go onto dominate college football.

We were then introduced to the real Coker who sunk this program to amazing depths of mediocrity in the blink of an eye; while in parallelism FSU was dealing with mediocrity as well. UF took advantage during the Tebow/Meyer era and dominated both programs. Now we're here - FSU is the dominant program for the time being. History has taught us that FSU's reign will end, likely after Jameis leaves for the NFL.

As for us, I just can't see Golden being the guy to bring us back to where we were before Coker and Shannon. I think he'll give us talent here and there, but we'll have to see who the next coach is. Which has been spoken in ad nauseam on this board regarding this subject.
