Absolutely!

Coach L lead this program with integrity, passion, and competence.

He genuinely cared about teaching young men as much or more than he cared about winning - and pre-NIL the former would reliably translate into the latter.

He brought our school more basketball success in his 13 year tenure than in the entire prior history of the program combined.

From NBA players to Sweet 16’s, Elite 8’s, and a Final 4.

I remember 15 years ago when the goal was to make the tournament every other year. Jim averaged a Sweet 16 appearance every 3.25 years during his time at Miami.

Absolutely build the man a statute - and let’s build on the success he has brought this program.

For the record, I appreciate everything Coach L did for our program. However, considering we never won a national title and the abrupt ending to his tenure here, not to mention the fact he seems to have left the program in complete disarray I wouldn’t be inclined to build him a statue. Let’s leave the statues for guys like Ron Fraser, Schelly and Jimmy.

The ending really does put a huge black mark on everything. It's unfortunate, never could've imagined it ending like this.

This.

Really gonna miss that signature whistle, almost makes a grown man cry how much he poured into the University from day one.

In his press conference when Rad thanked him and his family for everything they had done for the Hurricanes Jim stood up and was shocked at everyone barely clapping he said "not much of an ovation id say" staring intensely at the Hurricanes staff and media... one reporter said "its like a funeral in here Jim" I have never seen Coach L look truly upset like that. He always has a positive spin on everything in life but after watching the press conference you can see he is fed up with the state of college athletics and has no remaining positives. He is a teacher/coach showing young boys how to become men not a sports agent trying to negotiate with high schoolers trasnfers comical demands. To someone like Jim who is traditional and old school has an endless work ethic and busted his *** for everything he has in life its time to move on, not enough money in the world to deal with that bull****e.

Sickening to be honest. College sports are *** now unless you forkin out MILLIES and that's just bootycheeks. Scared money don't make money i guess

Hate to be that guy, but the more and more I watch this team play the less and less inclined I am to want to give Coach L a statue. I mean, unless his doctor ordered him to retire, why not finish the season and see this thing thru? Left his staff and players in a real bad spot.

This team is the worst in Miami basketball history. Unless something changes it is going to finish 0-20. Considering the ACC is down that is quite an indictment. At least when Hamilton went 0-18 the Big East, the conference was at the top of its game.

This is going to be a huge rebuild and it is going to take a special coach and huge commitment to fix.

Jim blew up his legacy.

Ok,Coach L, by far the greatest run as a Miami coach and has impressive numbers. But, there was a time during the Rick Barry era when the Canes had 3 consecutive 20+ win seasons, I believe the only time that has happened. And four NIT appearances, from 62-65. It was long ago, and I love Coach L, but let’s not forget that for a short time the Canes very, very good. Just sayin’

We are now 4-25 in our last 29 games. Thanks so much Coach L.

Please stop the talk about a statue or court naming in his honor. This guy drove us into the ground and quit in mid season. Actually, he mentally checked out a year ago. He leaves us in far worse condition, than what we were when he showed up. We are a clown show right now.

I can't remember when we were this bad.

Honestly, he should have resigned at the end of last season... this completely screwed this program. We are in worse shape than when he came in.

Hope they don't ***** it up further by bringing in some green horn "potential " coach.
This program needs a big name to restore any credibility..

Noo the Woogas, Bensleys, Nwokos and the Norchads screwed the program. They all stayed we have a pretty good team

Instead of a statue, we might be looking at an effigy with how things ended instead.

I'm just hoping that whoever the next HC is can hit the reset button, make the culture his own at Miami for basketball. The inevitable "Coach L would have done it this way" posts are gonna happen, but regardless of results, Coach L's culture got us close to the pinnacle - sure. But it really ended badly and showed that his approach won't work in today's landscape.

Salute to L for the 2013 squad, and the Elite 8 and Final Four runs, and everything in between that made Miami basketball fun to watch for all of us. Time to move on though.

It’s strange to me seeing some of these posts now.

I mean, wasn’t it clear as day to anyone that the reason L resigned is because he felt he couldn’t win with this team (and - more broadly - in the NIL world) and was completely exasperated.

Didn’t y'all know we were headed to a winless season in conference? Did you really think an assistant would coach this team better than L?
