Jermaine Johnson no longer on the team?

Funny I called Johnson a disappointment last week and was getting "this fan base sucks"-esq remarks afterward.

I posted in that thread. I watched 5 plays in the 2010 spring game and it was obvious Jermaine Johnson didn't have what it takes. I'm not sure I remember a greater disconnect between what I was viewing and what I was reading.

Johnson was a HUGE guy. I've stood next to him and Henderson, and he's close to as big as Henderson. Sucks his career didn't pan out because he looked like an NFL offensive lineman, and by all accounts was a great athlete too. Oh well though, I thought Henderson was a beast against NCSU and Flowers has boatloads of talent. Another scholarship.

This hurts our reserve depth for 2013. Johnson has been a JAG so far but it's not like we have a ton of kids at OG for 2013 waiting to take his spot. Without Johnson, our only experienced OG will be Linder and Feliciano with Isidora and Hunter Wells backing them up and true FR Alex Gall. This is pretty alarming.

What depth was he providing for us? Wheeler was playing over him. We have our top 6 OL back for next year with guys like Isidora, Wheeler, Gadbois, Gall, Kirkland, etc. backing them up. Every roster in the country with True and Redshirt freshmen in their 2 deep.

I am disappointed in the fact JJ washed out, but I have to agree with other posters. He was third team as an RS Junior, with very little chance of seeing significant playing time. We can make use of the scholarship.

I think Cory White, Curtis Porter and Luther Robinson will all be gone by the end of the year also. I really think this staff is just giving these RJR's that are not contributing time to graduate before they send them packing. With sanctions coming up we need the ships. I think this will allow us to bring in 20 much needed kids who are hungry and ready to buy into the system.

Wasn't there a thread somewhere asking how does Golden politely show a kid who wasn't his recruit the door? Personal reasons. It's his decision and he's not with the team.

JJ probably got frustrated with playing time (no shot at tackle, plenty of comp at guard) and decided enough was enough

I imagine he's on track for his degree, so it will probably be one of those deals where he finishes school but is done with football

He played every game two years ago and went to not getting any playing time, hard to believe that he is worse than Lewis who has little lateral movement and Wells, can only think that Kehoe could not coach him because he played fine for Stoutland.

with a year left of eligibilty, as long as he graduates this year, he'll be able to transfer and play immediately next year. he can enroll in grad school and play for a school like f.i.u. next year. not a bad move on his part. he was never gonna see good minutes here. he can go to a lower school and start next year.

Then good riddance, I want guys that are willing to keep fighting for their PT.

The guy is 24 years old, he probably let the frustration get the better of him. I would've waited until the season is over to quit, I can see the coaches not giving him a 5th year.

Not sure if serious.

You could be right, but if that was Johnson's attitude the team will be better off without him IMO.
