Not Smith related. But with all due respect Harley doesn’t even make my top 50 Miami WRs. He was a good player. I’m in no way suggesting he was a JAG. But he was at the right place at the right time with the right QBs and system, and very little options surrounding him. We should have three or four guys who can provide TVD with the same catch support.
Well the thing is that most of our returning WRs are JAGs outside of Colbie and we don’t really know what we have there yet and X who is solid. The freshman look talented but are freshmen. We don’t know what we have with the new JUCO kid either. Lastly Harrell is still a health question mark until proven otherwise. Maybe someone steps up but there is a reason WR is right up there as priorities with DT right now. We need help big time. Gattass was terrible and is gone but let’s not forget that our WRs struggled getting separation last year. My point was simply let’s slow down on top 25 offense is all…

Smith just spent 2 days on a UOV with FSU. Some comments as he was leaving:

-Spent time with Dugans, Atkins and Norvell
- Feels he has a great relationship with Norvell - ""He's definitely one of the realest coaches in college football to me for sure"

Says the visit set the bar high for visits.

*** Taking his OV to FSU for the Miami game....

Didn’t he say the same thing about Beard being the realest?

I agree with your point to slow down on expecting a high octane offense. But even Brashard can do what Harley did IMO. And Ray Ray and Robbie can contribute right away. True freshmen can be effective as WRs. IMO it’s all on Dawson and TVD because they have “enough” to do major damage among their receiving options.

Lashlee put up points with Pope, Wiggins, and Harley as his starting receivers. Not too many saw Rambo producing like he did. I remember a lot of concern about drops in regards to him.

X, Brashard, and Ray Ray can match Harley’s production. George will be better than Pope or Wiggins. Question is who can approach Rambo. Young showed some playmaking ability. Then had Harrell’s speed and the other transfers and it gets interesting.

This room is much better than 2021 overall. It remains to be seen if we can put it all together.
I think George will have solid szn in this offense

We dont need to slow down on shyyt. Top 25 the last 5 years was 442-456 ypg. Its not difficult to do with a proper OC and a good QB. We went top 20 with 2 undrafted WRs. Saying we can do it, is not the same as saying we will. Which i never said. Locksley said Gattis offense is like watching paint dry. That boi will be relieved of duties by mid season. He is that horrible. Im keeping a open mind on every player

Harley went for 700 on 57 catches and 7 TDs in 2020. Can those guys match that production? Maybe but its not a guarantee. Then yeah there is the question of who will be WR X? Will Harrell be healthy? Which Dawson are we getting? It can all come together and we could be great but it can all fall apart just as easily. I think it will be somewhere in the middle, most importantly it will be a visible improvement over 2022.

Pope and Wiggins were very underwhelming and Harley picked up the slack to be our leading receiver. His numbers dropped when we got a number one wide out.

I don’t expect the slots to have 800 yards individually, but as a group they will be fine.

If TVD is working hard, I don’t see it falling apart unless we have to play Brown or Williams exstensively due to injury.

We just need TVD comfortable. Rambo made many tight window catches because of elite placement of the football from TVD. Hopefully they are building chemistry because he can hit guys who are covered if he trusts them.

@DMoney from the 6/20 Bank

- The story on WR Jeremiah Smith (Chaminade) is simple. Yes, he's visiting this weekend, but that recruitment will go down to the wire and depends almost entirely on our performance on the field.

Did Andre Johnson have to be convinced to be a Canes fan? Seems like we're begging this kid to become one.

Andre Johnson was born in 1981.

He heard about a national championship in 1983, then watched the home team win one in 1987, 1989, and 1991.

Jeremiah Smith was born in 2006 and watched us get shut out against Louisiana Tech in a bowl game.

Ehhh…Harley has always looked like a more natural WR. And they have different builds and are diff players

I'm not anti- B.Smith by any means. Harley ended up pretty good here.
