COVINGTON, Ga. — Jeremiah Holloman isn’t sure when he might be ready to decide on a college. It could be relatively soon or perhaps closer to January, when he’s hoping to arrive at the school of his choice as an early enrollee.

“It’s still up in the air,” said Holloman, a top-100 senior wide receiver from Covington’s Newton High School.
For now, he’s approaching it as if he’s going to wait a bit longer.
Holloman said Tuesday that he’s in the process of scheduling some visits for this season, starting with a possible trip to Auburn on Sept. 3 for its opener against Clemson, and he’s planning to take all five of his official visits within the next few months.
“Right now, I’m still just thinking about making (a decision) closer to signing day, just because it’s going to be an emotional thing that everyone’s going to be looking forward to,” said Holloman, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 69 overall prospect and No. 11 wide receiver in the 2017 class.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Holloman said he's planning to take official visits to Miami and Notre Dame, but he hasn’t “decided the rest of the schools” that will get official visits from him.
“I’m taking an official visit to Miami for the Florida State game (on Oct. 8), and I’m going to Notre Dame on the 17th of September,” he said.
He said he also hopes to take unofficial visits to Tennessee, Georgia and LSU this season, with Georgia’s game Oct. 1 against Tennessee and LSU’s game Nov. 5 against Alabama already penciled into his schedule.
Georgia and Tennessee are widely believed to be two of the favorites to land Holloman.
“I’ll be up there for an unofficial at those schools,” Holloman said. “The schools I’ve visited often, I’ll be up there for an unofficial. I know I’m going to go to the Georgia versus Tennessee game, of course. I have to be there.”
Holloman announced a list of his top 12 college choices last month that consisted of Tennessee, Miami, Georgia, Penn State, Notre Dame, Auburn, Michigan State, LSU, Oklahoma State, Southern California, North Carolina and Oregon. With his senior season already underway, he said he’s not ready to eliminate any of them.
“I’m still looking at all 12 of the teams,” Holloman said. “But, as of right now, it’s just certain schools just making a push, making me know that I’m that go-to guy that they want for this recruiting class.
“I know I talk with (LSU) coach (Les) Miles. He tells me I’m the guy that he wants. I talk with (Auburn) coach (Gus) Malzahn, and he tells me the same thing. (Georgia) coach (Kirby) Smart, multiple coaches just tell me that, and those are programs that I’m going to be keeping an eye on.”
Tennessee still is one of the schools recruiting him hardest.
“I’d say my relationship with Coach Z and Coach Jones would have to be the closest out of all the schools recruiting me, most definitely,” Holloman said, referring to Vols coach Butch Jones and wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni. “Coach Jones talks to me more than some position coaches at some schools. We speak every day.”
Holloman already has visited Tennessee several times, and he has made three trips there since early June. He said he planned to visit the Vols again last weekend with teammate Jaquan Henderson, a three-star linebacker who’s committed to Tennessee, but they weren’t able to get a ride to Knoxville.
He said he’s now looking forward to “just getting there on a game day” to “see the game-day atmosphere and all that stuff” at Tennessee.
“Everyone tells me how it’s packed out every Saturday and, like, how the stadium’s shaking when they come out of the ’T’ and just what type of feeling everyone gets, and I just want to be part of it one day,” Holloman said.
He said he’s also planning to keep a close eye on the teams he’s considering to see how they do on the field this season.
“(I will be) seeing if, from last year, the receivers have progressed and stuff like that, seeing if the coach is going to keep pushing them, not just where they’re at, and just trying to get them further along to be ready for the NFL,” Holloman said.
At Tennessee, he said, he’s “especially” eager to watch sophomore wide receiver Preston Williams, a former five-star prospect from Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Ga. Holloman said he has known Williams since he was in high school “because he was at Lovejoy and we played them.”
Holloman said he’s high on Tennessee for a few different reasons.
“What plays a big part is Jaquan’s commitment to Tennessee, as well as having a good relationship with Coach Z, Coach Jones,” Holloman said. “I actually talk to the whole staff. That plays a big part. And I guess, whenever I need something, I can reach out to them and just talk to them — like, any guy on the staff. They’re real open.”
