These are all guys mf and fish on shadow's board said couldnt play or do much at UM.

I'm not knocking mf and fish, like the board. And they know fla. hs fb. But if AG is right on these guys, then IMO that is one heck of a good sogn re his evals.

Camp reports sure sound promising.

Ethnic,
I have been following recruiting for a number of years. Each of the various recruiing gurus and combines (Rivals, Scout, etc.) gets a bunch of the evaluations almost completely wrong. If mf and fish got a lot wrong, so did Scout, Rivals, ESPN, Bluestein, Bakas, Furman, and all the others. I think that part of the problem is that there are so many kids to evaluate and compare, and that it is just really hard to project from one level to the next. But it appears that Coach Golden and his staff may have done a really good job in this regard. We will find out for sure over the next couple of years.

I really have high hopes for Jenkins. Very high hopes.

He's quietly doing his thing, and while other garner more attention - good or bad - Rayshawn is doing well. Hope he's allowed to RS this year, but we'll see.

Well, in fairness to those guys, their evaluations were based in large part on game performance, not practice performance. But, there is just no way you can hit 100% on your evals because of the myriad variables, including maturity, nutrition, physical development, coaching, high school team's talent, scheme and competition, etc. That said, there are few absolutes for me. If Butch Davis recruits a defensive guy, I take him blind. Ditto for Mr. Beamer.

Perhaps you dont know who mf and fish are. Ferman is not a talent evauator at all. The ratings services arent really either. They mostly compile and sort by offer lists. Bakas hasnt done much in years. Bluestein watches kids, i'll give him that.

Mf coaches at immokalee. Guy knows fla hs ball. Fish is paid by actual college coaches for his evals. On the one hand, its not fair to them to compare them to rivals. On the other, they were pretty adamant on these kids. Especially jenkins.

Just because they know FL HS ball, doesn't mean they know everything. Our coaches don't know everything either, but the coaches know their system and they know what they're looking for as far as attributes a kid has to fit their system. That is probably something most people don't even think about. That is why Golden and co. mostly offer kids that come to camp. Or at least they prefer to.

Golden seemed to like all these kids so I am interested as well to see how his evals turn out.

Right which is exactly the point of Ethnic's post in the first place.

Davis will be a good special teams player at Miami. I think he can play nickel...and maybe he does...but we are bringing in a lot of corners into the program...so, there is a chance he gets lost in the shuffle.

Larry Hope can play...he will play a significant amount as a true freshman...one of our gunners on special teams for sure and he'll get adequate burn as a corner this year. There is a reason why I have been behind his commitment from jump street. If you are a prospect and you go out and earn a scholarship against your peers, you are obviously worthy. He's done nothing since to disprove that he should have been on scholarship.

I don't know if Jawand Blue will ever be a starter here, but he will play, IMO. He looks like one of those pesky VaTech defenders that just ends up playing well and being a good player, core special teamer type. Wouldn't be shocked if he played a bit next year.

I happen to really like Earl Moore...you can never have too many nose tackle types. He's a little fire hydrant that actually fits wit the D'onofrio defense. Back at Temple, the big Joseph brother was their primary DT after Terrance Knighton and Andre Neblett (both NFL players right now FWIW, as is Joseph) and he was just a short, squatty, strong *******. I bet we'll see Moore at some point.

Larry Hope was the beat cover corner in Dade county while Tracy was the best in browsed and pretty much the entire country.

Why would they say Larry hope couldn't play?

I've actually heard some negative reviews of Hope's play in practice.

I have found it kind of odd that Hope's name hasn't been mentioned quite as often as the other DBs as much during the fall camps.

Howard, Crawford, and Davis seem to be the freshman CBs that have impressed the most.... can you expound on some of the negative reviews that you've heard about his play???

What's out of the ordinary are positive freshman reviews from practice--not negative ones. Hope having negative reviews 3 weeks into camp doesn't mean he's a bust, just like early positive reviews of other guys doesn't mean they'll be All-ACC selections by season's end. **** at all the people who just want to jump at conclusions based off of small sample size.
