Jelani Hamilton

He's what you look for as a SDE in 3-4. That's one thing I like about having a multiple defense if they fully integrate it, there's really no tweeners.

I definitely had high expectations after seeing he was a US Army All American and played in the game. I definitely hold the kids that play in that US Army and Under Armour all American games on a higher pedestal.

Hopefully Jelani overcomes that injury and starts to develop this year and then he and Tyriq burst out and become elite next year as juniors. Tyriq is going to be a special player before his time at the U is done, but I think we all already know and expect that.

he was a good player coming out of HS, i didn't expect him to do much Freshman year but was hoping he could be a solid contributor by so. and jr. year

Coming off ACL and being DL, I would think he would have redshirted. It shows how horrible we were last years that he was thrown to the wolves. Most DLine need shirt year to grow; most ACLs need year to play on and another to really be better. Can't judge this kid at all yet. Throw in the fact that we all view DL against the old Cane "meet me at the qb" style and we now play "bend but don't break", and kid can't get fair trial. My guess is we will not like any DL play unless we win a NC. Hard to say, "wow, he really held that guard off the mlb!" Love this staff and how hard it works, but do no like the design of the D.

Man, as I look at some of these new recruits coming in...no way are they ready for College ball against the ND/KSUs of the world. It's good to know that the young men thrown to the wolves last year have been working hard to DESERVE VICTORY!

dont think he ever will be a dt.

I look at his bottom half....which is very skinny even now...meaning he is almost h@ his top weight which is fine.

Hamilton will be a starting STRONG SIDE DE here imo.....Even in high school he wasnt a big sack guy....but he is a guy that makes plays..always did...He has a long reach...like a huge wingspan...and by the looks of things in one on ones his strength is coming around.

In our multiple scheme he is essential....hes a guy that can play the end in 3-4 fronts....he will make plays this season if healthy and i think he starts his jr and sr year.

He's not a guy that will jump off the screen for u...but will be steady.

He actually had a game or 2 last year that was noticeable for me...think he had a safety in one of them.

Id be happy if he had a Thomas Carroll-type of career. Which would be fine as long as UM has other guys that exceed that level around him

I don't see him as a great pass rush guy anyway. I think he will help but I don't expect 10 sacks from him.

Not saying much as I don't see 10 sacks from any of our d lineman
