Jekiri

Because at this point, I think we need both. Reggie had 5 rebounds and a couple of nice passes in 18 minutes. I'm done expecting too much from him, but he still plays a role.

Reggie is a liability offensively and defensively. Other than that....

And we have a 7 man rotation without him, and Coach L doesn't completely trust Jekiri to get all of the minutes.

What about a combination of Jekiri and Swoope then? Swoope can at least run and jump, two skills that are paramount in basketball.

Reggie's hands = W.O.A.T.

Hi.....

Touche, my good man. Touche.

I am completely dumbfounded by Reggie Johnson. Ive never seen a player gain, what it seems like 50 pounds DURING the season. Ive also never seen a guy go from a pretty solid player, to the worst on the court by a wide margin.

It just doesn't make sense. Maybe he is playing on a torn acl and rotator cuff.

It might be worse than you stated. The guy has won games for us and was mentioned as an All ACC type player in the preseason, now, you give him the ball and I fully expect a turnover. I thought he'd lose 10 pounds from the time he came back from injury, but..... the play right before halftime last night, who was dumbfounded and speechless? A four point swing and momentum and it was all on him. We would be practically untouchable if he was playing like he did last year.

Reggie has zero confidence. Like I feel as though he's always tentative and always weak these days in everything he does.

In the past Reggie was a guy you'd get the ball to in the post, he'd do maybe one power dribble using his big body to back down the defender, then he'd go with a short baby hook. He had good feel for his game around the basket and was a strong post player because of it.

These days he just looks terrified every time he gets the ball, he's so soft and hangs on to it so long he always ends up in trouble. I live in fear of him getting the ball unless he's literally right under the basket.

I trust Coach L. The guy led our Canes to the ACC title and our first sweet 16 in 13 years. He knows what he's doing.

It's like Reggie has forgotten how to play.

Honestly, I would think it would be impossible to regress this far unless his thumb fell off.

That sums it up perfectly. He's playing like he doesn't trust his own game. Even when he gets position down low and gets off a hook shot, it's coming after a couple of pump fakes and after he fades away from the rim. He's simply not assertive when he has the ball. He needs to get his mojo back, because a Reggie Johnson that scores 10 points a game and attracts a double team down low makes us an extremely difficult team to defend.

He's not 100% and is carrying some kind of injury that we won't hear about until after the season. No way a guy goes from what he was becoming just a year ago to what he's doing now. But I'm appreciative of whatever he can give us, because we don't have a lot of depth and Jekiri isn't ready for primetime. RJ gets a lot of credit with me for helping to carry some middling Canes teams.

Far be it for me to question the great Larranaga, but can somebody explain to me why I'm crazy thinking that Jekiri should be getting Reggie's minutes? He's a consistent contributor when he plays, whether it be defensively, alley-oops, rebounding etc.

I was thinking the same thing watching the game. he seemed far more active in his limited time - especially on the offensive boards - than Reggie.

This. Love the kid, but he really looks like a deer in the headlights, and it appears to be confidence-related.

**** that. Reggies role at this point is spell Gamble and Jekeri. other than that he's a complete waste. He is a good passer but half the time he turns the ball over before he gets the pass off. If he does manage to get a rebound it's because the ball happened to deflect right to his statue *** underneath the basket. He's beyond awful.

I never said it was ideal, but at this point Jekiri is not ready (in Coach's eyes) to play 30 minutes, and Gamble can't do it physically, so we need Reggie.

Reggie is the double-edged sword. I think we need him to be a decent contributer to make a deep run but he seems to be a liability on the court for the last 2 months. He HAS to have an undisclosed injury right?? It just doesn't make sense for a guy to regress this badly especially on the greatest team in Canes bball history.

Fluck it if our guards continue to ball and we play stout D maybe UM can do this thing w/o Reggie. Or if Jekiri could just take some of Reggie's weight off his hands/entire body...

I don't believe we can win a title where the center position is a non-factor. Sooner or later we're going to run into a team with a legitimate big man and we'll need somebody to step it up. Indiana is just sitting there with Zeller, Ohio State has some players, The Cuse, Duke, Kansas, Louisville, etc. ****, even if it's just an 8 and 9 game from Gamble, we need that productivity to help fill scoring gaps. Can't afford to get outscored 20-4 or some **** at that spot by the elite teams.
